Poured into a chalice deep roasted chesnut brown with nice looking but quick to fade beige head atop.Alot of deep cherry and dried dark fruit in the nose, like a few others have noted I pick up a little lactic-like tartness,a little toffee and unsweetened chocolate round out the nose.Mildly sharp in the mouth at first but mellows after a few sips.Flavors of toffee and brown sugar that melds into alcohol dipped dark fruit and spiced phenols that seemed to linger in the finish. Not a bad beer but it's not great,I think maybe a fuller more mellow feel would help it out alot.

The first 12 oz. of this beer pour out into a Duvel glass a dark reddish mahogany color with a 1 1/2" creamy light tan head that recedes slowly, leaving a pattern of large legs and patches of lacing. Eventually there's a thin layer of foam on the liquid and even mid-way through the beer there's still a ring and a thin island of foam. Sipping leaves some small scattered patches of lacing on the side.

The aromas include some spice from the yeast, a bit of dark caramel or toffee, and some dark fruits.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose with some dark caramel sweetness and the dark fruits (some plum, some cherry and a bit of fig) up front. The spiciness from the yeast creates a background for the other flavors and there is a light touch of earthy hop bitterness underlying everything else.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and almost silky smooth with the very light carbonation. The medium length finish begins as the dark caramel sweetness begins to fade, taking the dark fruits along with it, leaving the final ending to a light dryness and some noticeable earthy hop bitterness that hangs around the back of the palate for a while before it disappears, leaving the dryness to fade on its own.

Overall I'd say this is a well made beer. While it isn't the best Belgian style Christmas beer I've tried, it is respectable and pleasant to drink. That said it won’t displace the Corsondonk Christmas Ale from my winter seasonal shopping list.

From Cervezalandia. At JJ's house. Shared in wine glasses. Very foamy but doesnt feel overcarbonated but smooth and light. Not bad but dull and with a bit of acidity

Pours a dark brown color with an off-white head about a finger thick with large bubbles. Smells of cracker, cinnamon, and candied fruits. Tastes of cloves, cinnamon, a little cracker, raisins, and a little brown sugar flavor. Nice mouth feel, feels reminiscent of a stout. This is certainly an interesting beer and goes down quite nicely. Not something I'd drink all the time but it makes for a nice holiday beer.
