Our high-gravity Imperial Stout is brewed with Pale and English Crystal and Chocolate malts, then aged in freshly emptied charred American oak bourbon barrels. The resulting beer has notes of oak and vanilla that mellow on the palate with the residual bourbon flavor from the barrels and the heavy malt flavors of the original beer. We aged this batch with cacao nibs and Trager Brothers’ locally roasted, organic, fair trade coffee. Something this special can only be improved with the addition of velvety chocolate and roasted coffee flavors!

Bomber poured into Stone snifter.

Great look upon first poor. Jet black with some caramel head and lacing that sticks around for a little while. Aroma is coffee/chocolate dominant with some roastiness, a little vanilla as well but i cannot pick up any bourbon. Taste is quite delicious - there is some dark chocolate bitterness and 70 IBU that is quite well masked but present towards the aftertaste. Great beer but I think the regular bourbon barrel aged version might be better. This release leans more towards the dessert beer and the chocolate and coffee seem to overpower the quality of the original brew.

Poured into a tulip glass with one-finger head that dissipates fairly quickly. Not much aroma but the Bourbon and coffee comes through. Strong Bourbon booziness with chocolate and coffee flavors. Mouthfeel is glorious. What a lovely Stout!

16 oz draft served in a cup, a finger or more of tan head that slowly faded to a ring of lacing. A bit of coffee smell. Taste is malty/bourbon background, with a nice combo of coffee and chocolate forward. Not too intense or sweet. A little oily mouthfeel, medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Not too boozy, really good chocolate and coffee flavor, looking forward to more.

This one pours a darkish black color, with a small head, and a good bit of lacing.

This smells like bitter but bright coffee, vanilla, oak, bourbon, and lots of dark chocolate.

I like this better than the base Dark Hollow for sure. It's a bit thicker tasting than that one, with loads of dark chocolate and vanilla. The coffee is secondary, but definitely there, adding some bright roast character that helps balance things out. There's not a ton of barrel, but it's definitely there, mostly as oak.

This is medium bodied, creamy, and silky, with a good drinkability, and not much booziness, even as it warms.

This is underrated and better than I thought it would be.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, tan-colored head that lasted a below average amount of time. OK lacing.

S: A very good aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, hops, and bourbon.

T: Tasted of a small amount of hops (mostly in the finish), a mild bourbon flavor, lots of chocolate, light bitter coffee (not quite so noticeable), some roasted malt, and light vanilla. This is a very solid flavor that gets better as you go along. Much heavier on the chocolate than anything else, but this works. Quite tasty.

F: A decent amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A well made and easy to drink stout. Interesting and drinkable.

Poured a black body with one-finger head that sticks around a while and has mostly a dark cocoa aroma but there are hints of coffee as well. Strong, dry, hints of booziness in a fuller chocolate body that is sweet and then cut off by the rush of coffee notes and finishes dry, coffee-ish and boozy.
