Balance between sweet pumpkin, spice and some oak, vanilla, and bourbon flavors is a welcome flavor, and nice complexity, still its just ok when it boils down to it.

A very enjoyable Pumpkin Beer!! Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass, this beer featured an almost clear amber/orange color, a small off-white head that faded fast but left a light coating on top of the liquid, and some light bands of lacing, Head retention was acceptable enough for a strong beer. Aroma and taste included the bourbon barrel smell and flavor, real pumpkin (not the dreaded overdone potpourri of pumpkin spices) and caramel malt. The flavor was outstanding, the bourbon barrel not overdone, and the pumpkin prominent enough behind the bourbon. This is a somewhat sweet malty beer that goes down like a well aged English Barleywine. Mouthfeel is rich and mostly smooth with a little harshness from the Bourbon barrel/.abv. Well done and very tasty!!!

Poured hard from a bottle into a snifter glass, forming maybe a finger of tan head that soon faded to a bit of lacing. Dark amber/orange body, close to transparent. Smell is a little bit of bourbon and some pumpkin. Taste is bourbon forward (not intense, which is uncommon), followed by pumpkin and a bit of chocolate after taste. Nice balance between the flavors. Light to medium bodied with pretty light carbonation, pretty smooth. I actually really like the combo here, reviews had me worried initially.

Poured with a tight off-white 1" foam head and a hazy reddish-brown color that reminds one of a [spooky] fall night. The bourbon barrel scent comes across with some sweetness, along with chocolate from the cocoa nibs -- a very inviting aroma. Taste follows with a perfect smoothness and blend of the scented flavors. Body is moderate, with a slight boozy aftertaste. A great drink anytime.

12-1-18 - 1 pint, 9.4 oz bottle (enjoy by 9-24-19 stamp - couldn’t wait any longer) poured into a small snifter glass. Great clear dark rust color with very approachable aroma. Not boozy. Slight white head. So tasty. Wish I had another.

This is the first pumpkin beer that I like. Maybe after meeting the brewer and him sharing the history of such an ale and his overall enthusiasm, well it did make me appreciate this while tasting. I enjoy this pumpkin beer because the spices aren't overpowering or making it taste like a pumpkin pie, it's nicely integrated with a balanced sweetness.

Very pale yellow-orange in color with average head and minimal lacing. Aroma is very weak and is not much of anything. Taste is exactly like watered down bourbon. Very little pumpkin or ale flavor and just a light touch of the chocolate. Seems just watered down and the bourbon flavor is slightly off-putting. I love Blue Mountain but this one is a miss for me ~!

Amber brown in color and fair amount of head that settles to hardly any. Lacing is okay.

Nose is mild sweetness and not much else.

Taste is sweet, mild bourbon, mild oak, a bit of nutmeg, a bit of cinnamon, and pumpkin in the background.

Mouthful is medium and cloying. Carbonation is average.

For a pumpkin beer, this is sub par. The pumpkin is far behind everything else and the spices aren't really there.

2016 version Poured from a bottle into a shaker glass. Pours a dark copper color with an offwhite head, Smells strong of dark chocolate with a hint of vanilla and malt. Tastes mostly of dark chocolate, vanilla, hints of bourbon and pumpkin. Overall it's a solid beer, heavier on the chocolate, smells quite good.

A: This poured a hazy copper with thick off white head.
S: It smelled like cocoa powder and toasted oak and vanilla, with some copper hops and pumpkin and fall spices.
T: It tasted like earthy caramel and vanilla and toasted oak, with some cocoa powder and pumpkin and fall spices. It had a clean earthy sweet aftertaste.
M: It was thick with moderate fine carbonation. Nice big body.
D: This was an interesting drink, more like a cheap bourbon barleywine with a hint of pumpkin. The scent and taste were decent but not delicious. The body was great, and the finish was smooth with well hidden alcohol, so it was easy to drink. Probably not for aging. Certainly not bad, but not that amazing fresh.

This is based off of 2014's Spooky which was phenomenal and delicious off draft. I have no idea what happened to 2015's recipe, but let's refrain from speaking of that one.

L: Pours a nice dark orange color with reddish hue. Little bit of foam that dissipates with your drinking progression.

S: Don't get too much outside of pumpkin, vanilla, odd herbal notes and a light bourbon tinge.

T: Flavorful and delightful. Has a creamy feel to it with a pronounced sweetness. Molasses, gourd, nutmeg, cinnamon, pie crust, vanilla bean ice cream and bavarian cream all come through. A delicious fall beer. nomnom

Feel: Creamy and refreshing. I would almost call it a dessert beer with it's frothy and dessert-like presence. Quite satisfying.

Overall: Loved 2014. Hated 2015. 2015 would get a 2/5 from me. Was thin, lighter-colored, lost its creaminess, sweet flavors disappeared: an overall drainpour. Could not taste any wood/bourbon notes. I really hope this was an off keg, because it depressed me.
