I am glad I picked HUB to visit on my limited Portland schedule. The first thing I noticed was the bike frames above the bar. A very original and effective touch.
They have a late HH and the food prices at the bar are rock bottom. I had a Beer sausage sandwich with chips for $3.75. Everything else on the HH menu was priced right. I also had the Seven Grain Oatmeal Stout, which was very good.
Something that made my experience there unforgetable was an impromptu jam session. About 7 or 8 band mates walked in, found a clearing and just went at it. They were good, really good! The bartenders and all the patrons were completely surprised. After they stopped, that passed out a few cards, and had a few beers. I think they were just going around trying to get their name out there. It was very cool.

This was stop #17 for my wife and I on a 21-day pub-crawl from Michigan to N. CA and OR. We stopped here early on a Saturday morning to try their beers as a kick-off to our Saturday version of our pub-crawl. The pub is situated in a storefront of a multi-story, modern building that looks like it has apartments above the brewery. The interior has a bicycling theme, and there is a long bar with some bar tables and stools that are separated from the larger dining area.
We ordered a flight of 10 beers out of the 15 that were available (there were also 3 Radlers or Ciders). All of the beers were brewed very well to their respective style, and all but two were well above average so that the 10 beers averaged out to a 3.8 out of a grading system with a 5.0 max score. (Any individual beer score above 4 is difficult to come by in our scoring, so this is a great score.) It was too early to eat, and only one person was at the time, but we didn’t even look at the menu, thus no food score is included in this review.
This was a great place to start our day, and definitely a place that we’d return to when we come back to Portland. This is a Must-Stop place.
