Walking a fine line of sweet malt and assertive hop character. A hop presence so enticing it truly is a work of art.

Poured from a 16oz can into a pint glass. Acquired as an extra in a trade with Briana, thanks!

Pours a hazy Amber body with a big white head that reduces slowly to leave some nice chunky retention and lacing.

Aromas are bready, biscuity, slightly floral but muted, a subtle caramel malt aroma dominates though with some faded hops in there.

On the tongue is caramel mixed with a light piney hop flavor, floral notes, finished by a light bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation, not too smooth.

Overall mediocre. Maybe it wasn't fresh, but I'm not sure because there's no canned on date.

Can-date 8/5/15. Pours a hazy orange-amber with off white head

Nose: light floral and fruity nose, slight malt

Taste: tasty complex hop profile- peach, cherry, citrus. solid dose of wseet malt, that laces the whole palate. nice piney throughout the finish

Feel: sweet, bitter, malty, medium bodied, bitter finish

Really enjoy this, very good when its fresh. great balance, fairly big on malt but it compliments the complex, unique, and indeed artful hop profile nicley

Pours a fairly dark Amber. A shade or two darker than most IPAs, but within the realm of appropriate. The thick head stands tall with an orange tinted off white color. Mildly hazy beer, but again appropriately so.

Smells of pine and tropical fruit. Hint of caramel and general maltiness as well, but very much hop forward. The taste is similar. Initial fruity taste and scent give way to a balancing malt flavor. Finishes with an assertive and piney hop bitterness, but refrains from becoming a stringently bitter. Lingering flavor. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lively medium carbonation level.

The malt backbone provides a nice backdrop for the hops without distracting from the hop focus. Well brewed and cleanly fermented. Lacks the hop explosiveness or complexity of the best of the style.

Pours a hazed amber with a pinky of eggshell colored head above average head retention &lacing

S: Woody hops & mango

T: Grapefruit, a little bit of pine, some mango & breadyness up front , a little caramel & pear as well. A little bit of grassiness & mango as this warms, dryness as well. Finishes with pear, mango, & a touch of woody hops, some caramel

MF: Medium body, lively carbonation, nice balance

Drinks easy, very solid, well worth a go

pours a cloudy orange color, with some head, slight lacing on the glass. Nice citrus notes and taste. Not overly piney or hopey. Very unusual for an IPA. I don;t normally like IPA because of the overly piney and hopey taste, but due to the lack of on this one....easily the best IPA I've ever had. In fact, only IPA I would gladly purchase again.

From can to tulip.

A. Dull copper color, with a frothy egg shell head that slowly retreats to a spotty film. Moderate effervescence. Very poor clarity, almost cloudy.

S. Unlike some IPAs, I get notes of honey, bread, and malts right off the bat. The nose is a little boozey and the hop profile does not jump out. After looking around i notice some resin as it warms. This is shaping up to be a curious beer.

T. As with the nose, this very bready and malty. More of a Kolsch or even a pilsner, than an IPA. This is a sweet IPA and the hop profile is not well defined.

O. Not smooth or crisp. Moderate carbonation and full to moderate/full body.

M. I was under impressed by this ale. I do not like Kolschs and this could pass for one. Very much a German malt presence. The lack of hop profile led me to my rating. I was visiting Charleston and the beer guy suggested this. I'm glad I got the try, but will not recommend this IPA.

I guess I'm a little picky about my IPAs or maybe I'm just spoiled from living in the north east but I knew as soon as I poured it in a glass I wasn't going to like it . Just as expected its just not the type of ipa that I enjoy .....the hops are muted and its heavy on malt ...not a bad beer just not for me

The can I poured from was less than a month old so it surprised me that the hops were less than "assertive." A lightly bitter and oily resin herbal hoppiness with a sweet malty center. Drinks a little boozy but slides down easy.

Little over a month old in a 16oz can from a trade.

L: Murky orange with small nice head.
S: No hops aroma at all. Light biscuity, hint of Munich malt I guess because it sort of reminds me of an amber lager.
T: Malty, weird, sweet.
F: Really easy drinking with light mouthfeel.
O: Below average ipa. Nothing special about this at all. Made me appreciate good pas more. I've been drinking a lot of good IPAS lately that I thought for a minute it must've been really easy to make a good ipa.

Canned 24 days ago, so might be past its prime.
L-opaque light brown almost tannin in color
S-dank maltish, sweet
T- strong over malted sweetness, lacking any formal hop character.
F- strong lingering malty taste that sticks on the tounge.
O-one and done, not an IPA that I will ever drink again.

Overwhelming CO2 -- especially out of the can. Hard to get to hops with so much gas presence, soda like. Light body with noticable malt. Wanted to love with the beautiful 16 oz vessel. One and done for me.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has an orange color with a 1/2inch head. Smell is of citrus hops. Taste is hoppy and bitter up front, some tropical fruits, malts, a touch of resin. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a good quality beer.

Pours a murky, medium amber producing 2+ fingers of beige, foamy, moderately lasting head that leaves wispy streaks & blotches of lace. Aroma is richly sweet caramel malt backed by hints of pineapple & other tropical fruit, melon & grapefruit. Taste is also rich & sweet but more balanced than the nose with sweet caramel malts balanced with a tropical fruit, melon, cigar cedar wood & grapefruit hoppiness. Finishes on the sweet side but becomes increasingly bitter in the aftertaste is a balanced hoppy/malt bittersweet that gravitates toward unbalanced bitterness & slight astringency. Low alcohol presence in the nose, but becoming moderate in the mouth in the latter half of the sip. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy bodied with moderate carbonation, dry but sweet & juicy with a mild prickle & slight drawing nature on the front half, especially the sides, of the tongue.

Thanks Darrell. Orange body, mild haze, quarter inch of off-white cap. Oranges, hops, grain. Grainy with mild alcohol heat. Medium bodied with some sticky resinous hops. Eh...

Something off with this batch? Pour created a crazy saison-like head, a very murky dark orange, smelled and tasted a little funky. Okay, but not very happy with the pickup.

This is, indeed, very much a work of art. It has a nice, hoppy punch, but not the kind that whacks you over the head with bitterness and intensity. Oddly enough, the hops taste almost sweet in this IPA. Well done.

Andy Warhol inspired label on the can, but instead of Marilyn Monroe faces, it's a bunch of hop cones. The beer pours out cloudy, amber, and forms a craggy head. The smell is quite an intense mix of juicy fruits like grapefruit, passion fruit, pineapple, and melon. The taste is also more of the dank, resinous hops, which are tropical in character, but have a little lower bitterness. There is a hit of big spice and earthy herbs in the finish.Body is quite dense, and the alcohol is not attempted to be hidden much. I picked up a four pack of this during a visit to Charleston. I hope they expand distribution to Atlanta area soon, because my first impression of this offering is quite good.

This review may not be giving this beer justice as I believe it may have been an older bottle. Then again there was no date stamp so there was no way to tell, definitely less hop forward than expected.

Appearance: Hazy, golden-orange color with one finger of head that fades slowly with thick lacing.

Aroma: Caramel malt, floral hops, some grassy earthyness, a little pine

Taste: Just a flash of creamy malt sweetness, then a rush of strong, piney bitterness. Some sweetness reappears on the the back end, but that trails off in the lingering, bitter finish. There is a definite green hop, slightly harsh quality to the finish which boarders on unpleasant.

The Rest: A decent IPA lacking in the balance department. Not enough else going on to balance out the massive hop bill. Drinkablity suffers a bit from the harsh finish as well.

16 oz. pint poured on tap at the brewery; unknown brewing/bottling date; drank over 30 minutes

A: 2/3 - yellow-orange coloration; initial frothy white head settles into a subtle glass lacing; medium alcohol legs

S: 9/12 - some moderate citrus and pine aroma; distinct malt character - toasty, bready, doughy; some mild alcohol notes as well

T: 15/20 - moderate bitterness up front that opens up for a balanced hop and malt battle - some grapefruit, pine and resiny characters - with some malt character and alcohols; the malt character continues to develop in the middle of the mouth; finishes generally dry and inviting

M: 4/5 - light-to-moderate body, moderate carbonation, some alcohol presence but not fullness

O: 8/10 - don't think that this is a 90+ beer but it's a solid IPA for those who like balance in their IPAs; for $5/pint at the brewery, the price point is right too

TOTAL - 38/50

Poured from a bomber into a shaker pint, the beer is a bright, hazy, copper-gold coloring with a bright, white halo of bubbly head. Nose of pine pitch, caramel backbone, and subtle grapefruit notes. Flavors are toasted forward, with resinous hops, dank, and a blast of tropical fruit. The aftertaste is more bitter and resinous, with hints of tropical fruit. Light bodied and smooth, with a bitter, tropical fruit linger on a smooth finish. Good brew.

Bottled on 11/15/13. Pours a medium amber against a golden hue. Average head and lacing. Nice nose of balanced pine and citrus hops. Almost medium body with good carbonation. The taste is artfully balanced of hops against a light malt background. As the nose, the flavor profile is pine hop followed by grapefruit citrus. A nice bitterness, but this brew focuses on hop flavor. Clean finish with a lingering grapefruit flavor and slight bitterness. Hats Off to my brewing brethren on the SC coast and the guys at Greenville Beer Exchange that recommend this. This is an art of using hops and is better than SN Celebration in a side by side.

Thanks to james582!

S: Raw, resiny, fresh hop aroma, some grapefruit candy.

L: Murky, yellowish brown, creamy whit head that dissipates.

T: Clean, hop laden maltiness up front. Candy like hop flavor. A very fresh hop flavor into a medium low, slightly spicy bitterness. A cracker-like maltiness in the background. Prominent herbalness as it warms, leafy almost.

M: Medium bodied, medium low carbonation.

Really interesting hop combo, cascade and Mt. Hood. Never had anything quite like it. Could use a bit more carbonation, but a very unique IPA.
