A full bodied dark brown ale. Intense malt character with a slight caramel sweetness. The chocolate and rye malts add to the rich roasted coffee notes.

Pouring from a 12 oz. can into a whiskey tumbler glass, this beer pours out darker than your average brown ale. It’s a very dark brown, hardly showing highlights. It forms one finger worth of very tightly packed, well held, peanut butter fudge colored crown. Almost porter like, but I love the crown and retention and it has nice lacing throughout. 4.25
The nose carries a mild, but silky milk chocolate with a spicy kick of rye underneath it for the whole ryed. (pun) Slight toffee and caramel notes as well. 3.75
The taste offers the milk chocolate again with the rye that isn’t too intense, but this has nice toasted bread layers. Honey black bread, toasted caramel and toffee finish. 3.5
The rye isn’t too intense in the mouthfeel either, while it does show its presence with a mild kick. Creamy, smooth, well carbonated and if we’re talking browns, which we are, full bodied. Very little bitterness and ABV not showing. 4.25
Overall, this isn’t really lacking anything and is a solid beer that has the edges rounded out. I would like a little more rye pronunciation myself though. 3.75

Can at Hudson’s, Hilton Head Island, SC
A: The beer is very dark brown in color. It poured with a short tan head that quickly settled down, leaving a thin collar around the edge and lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of nutty and chocolate analysts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of dark, nutty, and chocolate malts. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This brown Ale has nice strong flavors of nutty malts but also has complexity with the dark and chocolate malts.
Serving type: can

Coffee nose. Slight smokiness and taste good but drops off quickly (clean finish). Had draft at Whole Foods.
