From BeerAdvocate Magazine Volume III, Issue II:
Stout black and lots of head, the head retention shows a promising beer. Light molasses, brown bread and black currant fruitiness in the nose. Big, lush, full body. Roasted flavors are really mild, but mild is far from flavorful, and it does not lack in subtle complexities. Balancing hoppiness lays down a light citric herbal flavor and some bitterness. Hints of dark fruit and roasted cocoa nibs come to mind, as well as some yeast in the back end. Alcohol chimes in with its warmth--it grows but never becomes hot. Raw on the palate, but pleasantly balanced. Finishes roasty with a semisweet, malty linger.
A solid Imperial Stout: bold but not reckless. Not so complex that it has a need to be paired with food or even sipped carefully. Well ... it probably should be sipped, but it is pretty damn drinkable.
