A highly hopped, yet still balanced, double IPA. Multiple hop varieties, emphasizing Citra Hops, were used. We're lovin' the tropical goodness of this hop variety!

UPDATE: The local Green's got another keg and I got 2 growlers. This stuff is the nectar of gods. I had to up my review because I was getting over a cold on the first review and this is probably THE BEST DIPA EVER!

Poured from a growler into a tulip glass. Growler purchased at Green's Discount in Columbia, SC.
From their website, a correction to the ABV should be 9.7%;
Ingredients: 2-Row*, Munich* and Wheat* Malt, Citra, Chinook, Nugget, Cascade, Centenniel and Columbus Hops. *denotes organic ingredient
9.7% abv. Seasonal- Spring

A: Cloudy amber color with a nice fluffy off-white head. Moderate lacing.

S: Citrus hops are prominent. Mixture of sweet citrus and floral scents. Some underlying pine hops are also present.

T&M: Mixture of floral, pine, and citrus hop flavors with a strong mildly sweet malt presence. Fades to a slightly bitter, resiny flavor. Medium to heavy body. Very smooth with a bit of a fluff from the carbonation. Actually, as the temperature of the beer warms, the carbonation also lightens dramatically. It may be that my fridge is too cold?

This stuff is excellent considering the ABV and how the alcohol is completely masked by the well-balanced taste. Definitely worth trying and Coast really needs to consider offering this year round if it isn't in the works already!

Really good DIPA. Very similar to Stone Enjoy By to my palate, plenty of citrus rind, resin, and weed both in the nose and taste. Definitely try this one, it would be extremely well recognized nationally with wider distribution.

Looks great. Actually, looks like possibly the most delicious beer ever. Full disclosure: I had this via growler at GBX (what a place) one time and was supremely impressed. High hopes here. That thick froth has me convinced that it's a winner. It slowly dissipates as it sloths down the glass sides with a snail trail.

The smell is beautiful. Bottled 4/12, it smells like freshness should. The hops are fruity yet bitter: a balance of of medicine and citrusy fruit. An elixir. A potion.

A wow comes with each sip. Expectations met, I struggle to find imperfections. It's maybe a tad on the bitter side. Like a buddy mentioned, might honey morph this into Hopslam? I'd love to side-by-side these, but I was oh-so-happy to acquire this shortly after my Hopslam passed away. It's absolutely delicious, and i hold it second in a bottle only to Hopslam. Great beer in a great bottle from a great brewery from a great store. Thanks Zach. Thanks Mom. :-)

Interestingly, I recall it even better from a keg--that distinguishes it from Hopslam. It reminds me of an Idiot cask I enjoyed, which I also found better than a Hopslam keg or cask. If only I could taste a fresh Boy King cask....

Thanks to Exiled for sharing this growler.

The beer pours a hazy orange color with a white head. The aroma is pine and tropical fruit. The flavor is tropical fruit with some resiny and piney hops. There is also some caramel malt to keep the bitterness from being too high. Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation. A very nice, very fruity double IPA.

12oz. Pour into a Unibroue tulip.

Pours a brilliant tangerine orange color with little to no head. Nose is very subdued, some citrusy hops, but by no means overpowering. Taste is very pleasent: citrus hops backed by a huge sweet malt backbone. The taste is an interesting take on the DIPA genre. Hoppy enough to please with just a slight bitterness on the back end, but balanced enough not to turn your mouth inside out. None of the 9.6abv to be found. Heavy bodied, thick with high carbonation. Overall, a pleasing and easy to drink DIPA. Bravo!

Many thanks to HawkeyeDaz for the growler split.

Pours a frothy gold with pretty lacing. Partly cloudy in the glass.

The smell is king! Grapefruit and more citrus are really all there is... and all you need.

A plethora of those citrusy hops are on the tongue. It's a little sweet but more balanced than some hop bombs. Finishes clean and dry.

The growler held up nicely and we are rewarded with stellar carbonation and a pleasant mouthfeel. Just a winner anyway you slice it!

Pours an almost opaque golden-copper color with a one-finger slightly off-white head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of bright tropical fruit hop aromas with mild amounts of herbal hops. Backing things up are grainy pale malts.

Tastes similar to how it smells although the hop profile isn't quite as robust. Moderately dry pale malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by solid amounts of herbal hop flavors with smaller amounts of tropical fruit hops. Midway through the sip the malt flavors reassert themselves and the hop influence becomes more bitter. The bitterness intensifies through to the end until it reaches a solidly bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is very good. It's got a nice thickness with grainy carbonation.

Drinkability is also very good. I finished my glass quickly and could easily have a few more.

Overall this is very close to being a great beer and it's better than I remember from a growler. My one qualm is that the hop influence could be a bit cleaner in the flavor profile. Still, it's a very well done beer that's worth a shot.

Bottled on 5/12/15
A- pours an opaque orange with a solid off-white finger's worth of head. Really lacy. S- malt, resiny, oily hop smell. Kind of disappointing. T- malt dominant with a hint of resiny dankness and booze. M- medium feel moderate carb. Sweet on the finish with not much bitterness. O- a bit underwhelming. Was expecting a bit more. Still, though, I would try again. Perhaps a bit fresher.
