A: Tangerine orange/amber gold color under a pleasantly foamy off white head. Lace forms in patchy blotches as the head recedes into a bubbly ring and foam pile at the center.

S: Aroma brings all sorts of fruity/hoppy Spring friendly goodness. Floral...wild flowers/dandelions, melon, peach, passionfruit, and sweet grapefruit. Nice grainy and biscuity malts all over.

T: First thing you notice is the extreme dryness. Then comes grassy, fruity, citrus, and coniferous vegetation. Good chewy malts under frosty hop crystal bitterness.

M: Dry and smacky. Nice fine carbonation. Chalky....

O: Great beer but maybe too dry.

On tap at the brewery. Served in a taster.

Appearance - Hazy orange. Small head. Minimal lacing.

Smell - Great citrus hop aroma. Aggressive hop bomb aroma. Just a bit of malt.

Taste - Aggressive hop flavor up front. Citrusy. Simple. But nice. Grain in the middle, but it's weak by comparison. The hop flavor builds and gets very strong in the finish. Bitter and extremely hoppy in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Way too hoppy in the finish. Not necessarily over bitter, but the hop flavor gets very sharp.

Overall - Great up front but too strong in the back. I seldom wish a beer to be better balanced, but I wish this were.

Had during Brewvival 2012! Poured by The Boy King himself! Served from cask into a Brewvival sampler imperial pint. Poured a pale yellow with a minimal white head. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, citrus, citrus hop, earth, and a nice floral note. The flavor was of sweet malt, wheat, citrus, earth, floral, and earthy hop. It had a light feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. I really like how there was a nice floral note going on in this one to add some complexity and pleasantness to the overall brew. The citrus was also a very nice touch, but I just wish there would have been a little more to make this brew explode on the palate. Really glad I got the chance to try this one and hope that COAST starts doing this one regularly in the future for others to enjoy.

On-tap at Brewvival 2012. I believe this was a Simcoe-heavy Pale Ale that came out of the tanks just days prior to the festival. Cask.

Poured a clear gold with a soapy white head that leaves spotty lacing. Typically pretty COAST brew. Simcoe-heavy aromas of grapefruit, orange peel, and some crisp light malt. Taste is similar to the nose, super-fresh and drinkable, with more Simcoe-esque flavors of grapefruit and light malt. Not sure how this differs from the Simcoe Pale released last year, but both are damn tasty. Medium-bodied, with a very crisp mouthfeel and solid carbonation. Another great COAST Pale Ale, unpretentious and exactly what it should be!

Pours cloudy light gold. Big fluffy white head leaving excellent retention and some clumps of lacing.

Lots of dank resiny hops with some floral and citrus notes as well. A bit of a bready malt profile, but mostly hops.

Lots of bright citrus up front. The dank piney hops comes through more in the finish. A little bit of bready malt, but this one is decidedly west coast style.

A medium body with a touch of creaminess. A bit high on carbonation, but with the lighter profile it'll do.

Wonderfully easy drinking beer. Very much enjoyed this one.

BOTTLED ON: 06 17 14

Foggy gold color with a white head that settles as a cap of soapy bubbles. Fresh, light hoppy aromas: grassy, light citrus, and peppery melons with some sweet grain here and there not unlike hot wort. Hoppy flavor as well, tasting green and fresh with grapefruit, apricot, tea, and a dark green pine note that suggests Simcoe. Super crisp and dry with a solid bitterness. Nothing incredible, but very solid and well-made. Hoppy without straying too close to IPA territory.

Poured from tap into taster at the brewery.
Looks much lighter than most APAs...golden hay color. Smells of fresh piney hops, way more hopy than most APAs...
Taste is of citrusy, piney, and almost sweet flavors. Taste more of an IPA...
This is a beer that cant find a home in the APA community...it looks like a pilsner, smells like an DIPA, and tastes like an IPA. While all is good, it just needs to find a home.
Besides its wanderlust...its full of flavor, yet very mild and refreshing. One of my favorites from COAST.
