A deep copper amber hue with a firm, toasted malt character, lightly sweet with a crisp dry finish. Epicenter has become a gateway ale for novice Craft Beer drinkers. On-tap at Brat Haus, Scottsdale, AZ (July 2014):

I had not originally picked this beer when I walked into the establishment, but my friend persuaded me to try it out, saying that it was a really good beer.

The beer produced a nice, clear red/amber color with a nice off-white head that was well retains. The beer gave off a nice light malty aroma, with an ever so light hop aroma. The taste of the beer was good, so much so that I had another. The beer had a lighter body, as expected, and it was smooth, refreshing and very easy to drink. Overall, the beer was good. One that I would defiantly try again if out in Arizona.

Dined at Cork in Chandler last night and ordered this as we awaited our seating time. I've been home-brewing Ambers of late as I seem to enjoy this type of beer the most. I found Epicenter to be extremely enjoyable. It has lots of flavor and very little bite. It is one of the smoothest Ambers I have enjoyed that wasn't brewed by me.

The color was good. The taste was better. I ordered a second one to enjoy with dinner. My father-in-law did the same, as we both found our beer to be very pleasant and worthy of a second purchase.

Like many beer aficionados, I can't often describe a particular flavor or "velvety overtone" but I know a good beer when I taste one. This is one. I'll buy this again.

Appearance - This is a nice, brown beer with hints of orange coloring and a huge, easy, brownish-white head.

Smell - The grain in the nose is faint and a bit stale with a light floral hopping.

Taste - The malt is bigger at the taste but it is still somewhat stale. Sugars are light and mostly brown.

Mouthfeel - This is smooth with some light but clumsy bitterness.

Drinkability - This was an awkward effort at the style and barely drinkable.

12oz can with no freshness date.

Good amount of foam from a steady pour, lacing has some retention. Bright amber color, very clear. Light herbal citric hop on top of a clean caramel and bready aroma. Slick, almost milky mouth feel with a nice crisp snap. This ale screams "malt bomb" with a thick creamy caramel and nougat sweetness to a more level toasted breadiness in the finish. A quick brush of hop bitterness helps to balance. Clean palate throughout. Grainy and semi-dry in the end.

Not all American ales need to be hops, hops and hops. Nice to see a malt bomb here and there. This one ending to up being a good quaff.

Poured a clear amber body with a thin ring of white head. A quite nice looking amber ale. Scents of sweet, bready malt, lightly toasted malt, light caramel, fruity esters, a light hint of butter (diacetyl), and very low levels of floral hops. Overall impression of aroma is of a classic sweet, malty amber ale, with just a touch of hops and a little bit of diacetyl that aids the aroma in this instance. Flavor begins medium-sweet with notes of sweet, bready malt, caramel, toffee. light amounts of apple, nutty malt and light toasted malt. The middle continues flavors of caramel at a light level, with medium levels of nutty and toasted malt character and light toffee. Finish is medium-sweet with light notes of caramel and buttery toffee and moderate toasted and nutty malt flavors. Aftertaste is buttery toffee, toasted and nutty malt and very light caramel with a light bitterness from floral hops. A very light hop bitterness is present throughout. Overall impression of flavor is of a nicely malt forward profile with a slight undercurrent of bitterness, toasted and nutty malt keeping it from becoming cloying. It is nicely rich and pleasant, a very good example of an amber ale. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with high carbonation and a smooth, creamy feel that finishes slightly drying. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a very good, easily drinkable mouthfeel that is nicely refreshing. Overall this is a very good amber ale. It is malty, balanced, sessionable and refreshing. The aroma and flavor are quite nice and it has a pleasant feel. Very good.

Medium sized light tan head settles into a decent lacing above a clear reddish caramel colored beer.

A light sweetness to the caramel roasted malts in the aroma of this amber.

A lot of caramel in well roasted malt taste that also has a bit of sweetness and just a touch of alcohol included.

There is just a touch of caramel tastes hanging around in a very light dryish aftertaste with this medium bodied beer.

Middle of the road tasting amber, no displeasing tastes or anything, with is better than a lot of ambers can claim.

A - Poured into a pint glass. A thin white head formed and was quickly gone. Amber to bourbon colored and transparent.

S - Honey and wet malt smell.

T - Malty, not too sweet though. Bitter ending that grabs the tongue nicely. Simple, nice flavors.

M - Crisp and clean. Moderate carbonation and light body.

D - Good, easy to drink and solid tasting.

Ok. Had a can from total wine. Maybe I got an old can but I wasn't impressed. It's not a very drinkable amber. Pours clear and, well, Amber. Smells like beer and tastes ok. Hops seem bitter but not too flavorful. Mouthfeel is ok. Overall, not one of my favorite.
