This may be the biggest surprise for me in a while! Honestly I really thought I would hate this beer as I thought it would be as bad as all other flavored beers, however this is my all time favorite at this point. I been drinking this for a few months and keep it stocked whenever I can. The aroma is obviously fruity and sweet, yet light and more of a legitimate beer. The taste is sweet, the pineapple notes light, making it taste like a real beer. The light golden color is a nice touch as is the minimal head and lacing. An amazing finish makes this a great beer! A great effort indeed. (590 characters)

The beer smells only very faintly of pineapple and almost more of mop water. I gave it a two for taste but only because it is kinda drinkable, like its not so bad you want to spew it from your mouth. I only drink half the can and I HATE wasting beer. The feel is stingy on the tongue and sharply carbonated. I like san tan brewery and have been to their Bar in chandler AZ many times I have liked many of the beers they make, However this failed to deliver the quality I am used to in their beers. (502 characters)

Pours a golden color with a slight haze that fell off to reveal perfect clarity by the bottom the glass. The head was scant but creamy white foam that fell with no lace. The nose is crisp wheat, a touch of bread, some grass, and a very light banana and a sweet little bit of pineapple. I think I am s=getting a bit of clove but not too much. Taste is excellent.. A nice sweet pineapple that is not too acidic and not too tart meets a flaked wheat sweetness. That mouthfeel is perfect. A little carbonation to keep it light, creamy, crisp an dry. Juicy middle. The bit of pineapple and banana are just enough to taste and enjoy but nothing that makes the beer too sweet or too much like a hefe. The clove disappeared on the palate for the most part and the hops came up deftly to balance this beer with a graceful bitter that you might not even notice.

Saucy little beer and I really liked it! Thank you Kerry4porters for giving me my first beer from Arizona. (960 characters)

I liked the can better than beer, but who doesn't like nice cans? (65 characters)

Good idea, but they didn't pull it off. (39 characters)

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #77 (June 2013):

LOOK: Massive head, hazed peach hue

SMELL: Green banana, mild clove, pineapple juice, rind, bready, faintly spicy

TASTE: Very crisp, deep smoothness, grainy, dry breadiness, minimal hopping, mild juiciness, banana peels, lemon pith, spicy, nutty yeast, pineapple skin, bone-dry finish

Quite unique, as most brewers don’t think “pineapple” in beer. The dryness is a huge plus here. The pineapple is noticeable, yet does not try to take over the base Hefeweizen at all. It really comes down to the uniqueness, which makes it a must-try beer. (599 characters)

A wheat beer brewed with pineapple juice?

12oz can. Hazy gold topped with a creamy, white foam head. Soft wheat, bready, fruity pineapple, clove, and a hint of banana in the nose. Light, creamy, and crisp on the palate. Wheaty, bready, nutty, grassy bitterness, juicy pineapple, green banana, and a dry, hay finish with a lingering spicy clove note.

I wish the pineapple was a bit more dominant, and the finish cleaner, but interesting nonetheless. (450 characters)

12 pz can.
Slightly sweet at the start but more tart and even more bitter by the finish. Clear pineapple presence but ubtle enough to create a generic tropical fruit impressions and not just pineapple. A solid wheat base.
O: This beer works way better than expected. Very refreshing. Good recommendation from McGaugh's (Flagstaff, AZ) passed along to you. (356 characters)

Poured a cloudy yellow-gold body with a one finger thick white head that stuck around for a while. Abundant bubbles shoot up the glass. A very nice looking wheat beer appearance. Scents of yeasty wheat bread, banana phenols, slight citrus aromas and clove esters with pineapple aromas in the background, coming more to the front as the beer sits. A nice wheat beer aroma, hefeweizen like in many respects, with enough pineapple to round out the aroma. Flavor begins modestly dry, with clove and spice esters mingling with pineapple and cracker-like wheat. This moves into more abundant pineapple flavors, a bit of spice and some more wheat. Finishes semi-dry with pineapple, wheat, spice and honey notes, and a bit of a floral flavor. Aftertaste is clove spice and wheat. A very nice and refreshing flavor profile that is fruity without being overly sweet. It balances sweetness and dryness quite nicely. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium-high carbonation and a watery, yet slightly sticky, feel and a semi-drying finish. A nice mouthfeel that makes this beer refreshing and easy to drink. Overall this is an excellent Summer beer. It takes a rather overdone style, the fruity wheat beer, and executes it in a way that is approachable and refreshing, but also balanced. A very good beer. (1,291 characters)

A big white to slightly off white head slowly settles above a thick yellow-orange honey colored beer.

Spices, cloves, bananas, and some sweetness in the aroma of this pineapple wheat beer.

Light spices and banana combine with the pineapple juice in the taste of this wheat beer, there also seems to be a little bit of the wheat grain coming through as I drink this beer.

A light dryish aftertaste with a light sweet pineapple taste hanging around in the aftertaste of lighter bodied wheat.

The can looks sort of like a soda pop can and this beer kind of makes me think that is what their aiming for. (603 characters)

A beer I threw in a mix-a-sixer at a Trader Joe's in Tucson. I've had a number of good beers from Santan and figured this should be good too.

I poured the beer into a pint glass.

The appearance is good. The pour produces a big head that takes up about a quarter of the glass. The head is fizzy and white in color. It dissipates quickly, settling into a thin layer over the liquid. The beer is dark golden in color and there's abundant carbonation visible.

The smell is very yeasty and malty, somewhat sweet, and has subtle hints of something citrusy, although I don't think pineapple.

The taste mostly continues what the smell started. It's a sweet blend of yeast and malt with an apple like flavor. It reminds me a lot of a friend's English brown, in which the malts also created an apple-like sweet flavor. The pineapple is not notable at all really.

The beer feels a bit overly carbonated, as it bubbles on the tongue far too much to make it smooth and easy-sipping.

Overall, it's an okay beer, but not one I'd likely drink again. (1,043 characters)
