Stopped in here just after lunch. Nice big space with tables down the middle, bar on the right and brewery on the left and back of the room. Atmosphere was hopping even for an early afternoon. People sitting all over the place, inside and out. Service was quite good. I never had to wait for a beer and my server made plenty of small talk with me to pass the down time. Quality was solid across the board. Food was quite good, beers were diverse and in the correct glasses. Selection was just ok. Only seven beers on at the time of my visit, while a good verity they were just ok. I got the pub pretzels since I didn't want anything big and they were really good and hit the spot well. Prices were on par with all of the other places I have visited in the last few days. Overall a decent enough brewpub that I would probably return to if I had some extra time in the area.

Santan has come into its own. Their new beer and special releases are setting a new pace for the brewery. Since they opened the production facility they have space to dabble in new styles and have been consistently great. I used to settle on going to santan but I know look forward to it. Their flagship line is solid. Their food is way above normal pub fare.

Last time we were in Phoenix we stopped in and had dinner. Our son had recommended Santan to us. This brewery is a sports bar and that is my biggest complaint about it. The TVs were so loud you really couldn't talk at all. It was very annoying not to be able to get away from the horrible noise. I mean really uncomfortable noise. Otherwise the service was excellent and the food was very good. I had fish and chips which I would order again if I can talk myself into going back there and have ear plugs with me. My husband had the Ribeye smoked dip wrap and loved it. Their beer selection was a little above average. I have been to many sports bars and have never been in one that was as noisy as this one. It really isn't necessary for the TVs to be so loud. Maybe out on the patio it would have been better but it was a cold night so inside seating was necessary.

Stopped here last Thursday night before picking up family at the Gateway Airport.
Atmosphere was good, very crowded on a early Thursday evening as we were able to get seated within 5 minutes because of our reservation. A patio is available along the perimeter of the building and all tables were occupied due to the lovely October temps. Indoors was loud with the buzz from the full house and the NFL football game. They also had the MLB playoff game on. I never made it up to the bar but it was of decent size in which occupants looked out onto the patio and street. The restaurant side is long and narrow with seating for maybe 150?
Quality of the beers we had was good. I was pleasantly surprised at how smackable the Belgian IPA was. The Negro Nitro was pretty good too. As usual Da Boss sticks with lower hopped brews in which Epicenter filled the bill.
Despite how crowded it was the service was outstanding as the ordering process was timely, consistent, and friendly. I took a couple of growlers in which one is ceramic and without the government label. The shift manager came over and told me he could not fill it in which i promptly presented a typewritten version in which he affixed for me...he must have thought i was an undercover Arizona DLLC agent! Kudos to him for being on top of things!
Selection of beers was decent as i believe they only carry house beers but i maybe wrong...but nonetheless they have a pretty good range of beers for all pallets.
The food was good. Da Boss had the fish tacos and i had the fish and chips. Both were well prepared and tasty.
Overall value was reasonable. We had 5 pints, 2 entrees, and filled 2 growlers for $76...not bad at all! Although SanTan is on the "other side of the world" as we live in north Phoenix, i would definitely go here again if i have reason to be on this side of the Valley of the Sun.

This is the closest brew pub to our house about 2 miles away so I wanted to try it to taste one of their seasonal beers. My wife and I went in the afternoon to catch the end of the Georgia South Carolina football game. The waitress was very helpful. I ordered a interesting nitrogenized version of their normal Devil's ale and she suggested I get a taster of the normal version so I could compare. Also, they were nice about letting us take up two small two person tables so we could watch the game both sitting on the same side.
Beer was hoppy. The one with nitrogen was smoother with less of a bite from the hops. Nice glasses, nice atmosphere. I like the idea of going to a local brew pub to take part in the craft beer movement. I like being able to try their seasonal varieties on tap.

I remember when this place first opened. It is a good place to get wings (they are the best) and get a great beer in Chandler and the beer selection is fantastic (the IPA has a bold Citrus taste). The service is better than you would expect and the prices are very good.

I have been to San Tan Brewery several times. I've brought "C" here before and now she comes here once a week. Sometimes the servers see me and make a trip out of their area to say hello. I guess it's one of my hangouts so it's probably time to write a review.
San Tan Brewery is located in Historic Chandler. Just north of it is the San Marcos resort. The couple of blocks around it is probably the only area worth seeing in Historic Chandler and the building itself used to be a bank. There is plenty of parking in front of it either way and in the back. The parking is lit and it is a regular parking lot in the back. There is a patio area in the front and on the north side of the building. Metal tables for two or four are available and misters are going to help cool the temperature down. You can bring your well-behaved pooch there. Inside you will find a couple of historic pictures when it was a bank, the vault, and seats on top of what were the safety deposit boxes. There are high and low tables for two of four and seats at the bar.
There were eight house beers, three guest beers, a guest hard cider, a full bar, and cocktails were included in the happy hour specials as were some appetizers. This place is usually hopping but I was able to get a table of my choice inside without a wait. I had some wings in pineapple habanero barbeque sauce (which is made there) and a Devil's Ale, one of my favorite beers on tap, before my friend from work arrived. The wings were delicious, plump, juicy, and really perfect. Later, we had a couple of Hefeweizens and the chip trio. the beers were really good and guacamole and the pico de gallo was very good. The cheese sauce was basically a Velveeta cheese sauce. There was hardly enough chips and the refill was $1.50. When we left, the place was busy and noisy.
Our server was fast and friendly. Anything we wanted: more napkins or beer or the check was fast and delivered with a smile. A couple of servers came over to say hello from their areas and this gets a "perfect" for service in my book.
I have to recommend San Tan Brewery. It gets crowded especially on Friday and Saturday nights when the wait time can be really long especially if you don't want to sit outside. Even with the misters it's just too hot outside for me to be relaxed. It is AZ, after all. I think it's a great place whether you coming from work, meeting friends, on a date, or just someplace where everybody can agree on for good food and drinks. Parking is not a problem.
There are a couple of things that I don't like about San Tan: they don't have little things they should have like wet napkins with an order of chicken wings, the chips with the chip trio are not even enough and the charge for more is $1.50 (if you get the pretzels and want more mustard there is a charge, also), and the pints are short - about two oz. short. "C" mentioned this to me the other day when we met at Four Peaks Brewery. So far, San Tan is the only place I've been to that does this and they do it regularly. I hope it's not catchy. It is for these reasons that I gave the "value" $$$. It's like getting a six-pack of bottles and finding out they are 330ml (11.3 oz.) bottles and not the 12 oz. bottles but worse.

A very nice brewpub and a nice selection of beers. The food was pretty good and the service was OK. I felt it could have been a bit better, but in their defense it was pretty packed. That said, the manager, Tom, did take time out of his busy schedule to talk with us and other patrons. He was very friendly and didn't seem to mind all my questions :)
All of their beers are clean and quality made. My personal preference is for a bit more maltiness, but that isn't everyone's preference. Their beers are available at a number of restaurants and bars around town. They are also available in the local grocery stores in a variety pack of cans.

Somewhat small for how many handles they have but a cool vibe that can fill up quickly and spill out to the patio (which is not a bad place to chill). Didn't touch the guest, don't have to, the brewery pumps out some nice crafties. The food is great and the staff is friendly, one of the top breweries in AZ.

Its been a while since I've been, but going to SanTan was a more memorable part of my trip to AZ. I believe they will benefit from their new expansion with gained ability to experiment a bit more. The food was great and so was the service. I hope they stick to their own thing and make room for themselves. I truly wish more craft beers would get into canning these days (as they are easier to travel with and get onto golf courses). Staff explained very well the benefits of doing so. Decent beers, but nothing too exceptional.
