I'm not sure why more people haven't reviewed this place recently. I LOVE San Tan. Their beer I thought was only decent when they first opened, but now they have really stepped up the quality and I find it exceptional.

Their food is all quality, and they have some amazing appetizers. Great atmosphere with a very open feeling, especially because they have one wall that rolls up and opens to the outside. Make it feel airy and spacious. Service is good.

Also of note is their winter warmer. It is the epitome of a winter warmer in my mind and I literally was addicted to it. Probably the best I've ever had, and I've tried quite a few the past few years.

I have been to San Tan Brewery several times. I've brought "C" here before and now she comes here once a week. Sometimes the servers see me and make a trip out of their area to say hello. I guess it's one of my hangouts so it's probably time to write a review.

San Tan Brewery is located in Historic Chandler. Just north of it is the San Marcos resort. The couple of blocks around it is probably the only area worth seeing in Historic Chandler and the building itself used to be a bank. There is plenty of parking in front of it either way and in the back. The parking is lit and it is a regular parking lot in the back. There is a patio area in the front and on the north side of the building. Metal tables for two or four are available and misters are going to help cool the temperature down. You can bring your well-behaved pooch there. Inside you will find a couple of historic pictures when it was a bank, the vault, and seats on top of what were the safety deposit boxes. There are high and low tables for two of four and seats at the bar.

There were eight house beers, three guest beers, a guest hard cider, a full bar, and cocktails were included in the happy hour specials as were some appetizers. This place is usually hopping but I was able to get a table of my choice inside without a wait. I had some wings in pineapple habanero barbeque sauce (which is made there) and a Devil's Ale, one of my favorite beers on tap, before my friend from work arrived. The wings were delicious, plump, juicy, and really perfect. Later, we had a couple of Hefeweizens and the chip trio. the beers were really good and guacamole and the pico de gallo was very good. The cheese sauce was basically a Velveeta cheese sauce. There was hardly enough chips and the refill was $1.50. When we left, the place was busy and noisy.

Our server was fast and friendly. Anything we wanted: more napkins or beer or the check was fast and delivered with a smile. A couple of servers came over to say hello from their areas and this gets a "perfect" for service in my book.

I have to recommend San Tan Brewery. It gets crowded especially on Friday and Saturday nights when the wait time can be really long especially if you don't want to sit outside. Even with the misters it's just too hot outside for me to be relaxed. It is AZ, after all. I think it's a great place whether you coming from work, meeting friends, on a date, or just someplace where everybody can agree on for good food and drinks. Parking is not a problem.

There are a couple of things that I don't like about San Tan: they don't have little things they should have like wet napkins with an order of chicken wings, the chips with the chip trio are not even enough and the charge for more is $1.50 (if you get the pretzels and want more mustard there is a charge, also), and the pints are short - about two oz. short. "C" mentioned this to me the other day when we met at Four Peaks Brewery. So far, San Tan is the only place I've been to that does this and they do it regularly. I hope it's not catchy. It is for these reasons that I gave the "value" $$$. It's like getting a six-pack of bottles and finding out they are 330ml (11.3 oz.) bottles and not the 12 oz. bottles but worse.

Two work colleagues and I stopped at SanTan for lunch on my way back to the airport on Friday, December 3rd, 2010. I ordered the sampler which consists of their 6 "stock" beers and a seasonal - their winter warmer. I've got to say I was pleasantly surprised all they way around. Kristine B. (our server) did a fantastic job explaining each brew to include suggested pairings from the food menu. She really know's her beer. Rumor has it she some kind of craft beer champion super hero when not taking care of customers.

Working through the sampler, the HefeWeizen, Devil's Ale, and Winter Warmer were all fantastic. All seven beers were within BJCP style guidelines but those three stood out. I followed the sampler with a "full serving" of the winter warmer. It came in a snifter with two ginger cookies. With that and the awesome (and slightly alternative) holiday music on the sound system, I had a very pleasant experience.
My colleges had skipped the sampler and went straight for the HefeWeizen and Epicenter Amber (one each). The guy drinking the HefeWeizen said that "this is just like being in Munich" (which he is several times a year for work).

The food was also quite good and everything was reasonably priced.

The brew staff was in while we were there and had broke for lunch sitting two tables from our group. I stopped over to thank them for their work. They were very open and friendly; clearly a great team of brewers.

I will go out of my way to visit again when in the Phoenix area.

Visited 3/4/2011 during Ratebeer Winter Gathering for an early lunch.

We were some of the first ones in so there weren't a lot of other customers around. We were greeted by a server and a couple of other employees from the brewery. They promptly gave us all a free glass of their imperial red (which was their contribution to the Voltron blend) and it was quite good. I then ordered a sampler of the rest of the beers and plate of fresh baked pretzels and split all that with someone at the table.

The beers were all solid and in some way enjoyable. We were given a tour of the facility. The brewing equipment is cramped, like any brewpub. The canning/kegging area is much more open. They have a large keg fridge where I spotted some of the interesting casks (vanilla porter for example). They also have a fridge that they use for 5 gallon test batches.

Very nice people, awesome place. The food and the beer were both good. Would recomend this to everyone.

Somewhat small for how many handles they have but a cool vibe that can fill up quickly and spill out to the patio (which is not a bad place to chill). Didn't touch the guest, don't have to, the brewery pumps out some nice crafties. The food is great and the staff is friendly, one of the top breweries in AZ.

I have been to San Tan Brewpub six times over the past five months, with the most recent visit being in May of 2012, It has been crowded each time I have visited and it is obvious the good people of Chandler value this fine establishment. From the atmosphere, which is a no nonsense neighborhood environment, to the quality of the on tap beer selections, within which are several of the better brews I have found anywhere, I am a continuing and loyal customer when I am able to visit Chandler, which is often.

The continuing but infrequent offerings of cask conditioned ales and specialty beers are a real treat. The food is excellent quality but a bit pricey. The beer I most enjoy at San Tan is the Hop Shock IPA. It is simply one of the best IPA's I have had the pleasure to quaff.

Santan has come into its own. Their new beer and special releases are setting a new pace for the brewery. Since they opened the production facility they have space to dabble in new styles and have been consistently great. I used to settle on going to santan but I know look forward to it. Their flagship line is solid. Their food is way above normal pub fare.

Been here a number of times and once again to visit friends in Chandler last week. Solid beer and food. I had the negro nitron and a seasonal wheat with pineapple-like flavors. Both great and I wished I had more time to enjoy the full beer list. It was hot but they have misters pumping hard on the patio surrounding the building to keep you reasonably cool. Worth a visit if you are in the area. It's a rather large place that looks to have been a bank in the past due to the huge vault in one corner. Great atmosphere and a good restaurant as well.

This is the closest brew pub to our house about 2 miles away so I wanted to try it to taste one of their seasonal beers. My wife and I went in the afternoon to catch the end of the Georgia South Carolina football game. The waitress was very helpful. I ordered a interesting nitrogenized version of their normal Devil's ale and she suggested I get a taster of the normal version so I could compare. Also, they were nice about letting us take up two small two person tables so we could watch the game both sitting on the same side.

Beer was hoppy. The one with nitrogen was smoother with less of a bite from the hops. Nice glasses, nice atmosphere. I like the idea of going to a local brew pub to take part in the craft beer movement. I like being able to try their seasonal varieties on tap.

I went in for lunch again today. This makes the third time i have been there. I didnt want to reveiw on just one visit as it could be skewed either way, good or bad, and i wanted a fair review.

Again, as each time before, i sat at the bar where Brian was bartending. I had some awesome cheese stick things off the appetizer menu for lunch, cant remember what they were called, but they were great, like beer battered potato skin cheese stick things... lovely.

I washed it down with an "18 oz" pint of obscura stout. Although i feel this beer should be renamed as a porter (see my review) it was lovely as well.

The entire staff i had contact with was nice and helpful. the place was clean.

On tap they had 7 ( i think) of their own brews, one from papago, one from breckenridge, and something else raspberry i didnt take much notice of.

This is pretty much a brewery before bar.. highlighting their own brews first and foremost, which is quite likely why i like it so much. It has a hometown feel about it while being pretty big and airy.

Several TVs, and they say plans to have a double sided bar adjacent to an outdoor patio really soon.. that will be great for spring, cant wait.

I will definitely be back over and over..

Stopped by here the morning after the Strong beer festival. I live in Michigan, so what could be better then sitting outside having breakfast with good beer during the month of february. The staff here were very attentive and willing to answer guestions about their beer and the brewery. Nice open air feeling inside the bar due to the see through bar area. Solid tasting beers. The breakfast event was food made with beer. The food could not have been better. Very clean and well maintained. I will be back whenever I visit the Phoenix area. Big thanks to all at this fine brewery.
