On tap at the brewery.
My favorite of the seven selections I sampled during my visit. Pours dark brown, semi-opaque, with light escaping the edges, a small white head, and some patchy lacing. Prominent barrel in the aroma; bourbon and vanilla and oak intermingle with light roastiness and bitter chocolate. Taste is much the same, pretty well-balanced but with slight leanings towards the barrel side; again I get bourbon and a solid vanilla note, some wood, restrained roast, black coffee and bittersweet chocolate, maybe some plums and raisin. Medium to very slightly full bodied with smooth, moderate carbonation. Lightly sticky finish that lingers full of vanilla and caramel. The booze on this just supplied a pleasant warmth without ever becoming too hot.
A really nice beer and certainly a must-try if it’s on offer. I’d buy a four pack of this if it was in bottles and I think a lot of other people would too.
