Golden, almost translucent. Thick & sudsy head adds to the overall mouthfeel. Lacing all over the glass. Sweet aroma with a very faint hint of apples/lemon, then earthy/spicy hops. Thick and sweet in the mouth with a very dry finish. Sweet like honey, lemon flavor adds nice acidity. Sharp hop bitterness at the end, perfect balance. Was excited to try this after loving their Hefeweizen last year. Heater-Allen really knows how to brew lagers. Try'em if you can find'em!

22oz bottle, no bottled on or best by date. Also, for some reason, I thought this was Heather Allen brewing, not Heater Allen.

A mildly hazy straw yellow with a dense off-white head with excellent retention and gorgeous lacing, this is a beautiful pilsner. The nose is stunning. Soft, doughy malts with a suffuse Saaz hop character, this beer has a soft, mineral character. The hop character grows, gaining a mildly herbal note. The malt character is fantastic. Yes, it's mildly doughy, but it's got a mildly fruity component, almost like honeydew melons?
The palate opens crisply bitter with a beautiful balance between the mineral notes and the crisp Saaz hops with a mild resin character. Along with it is the soft malt character, mildly doughy, and with a mildly biscuity pilsner malt character. Exceptionally clean, this beer reminds me of the New Glarus Unplugged Bohemian Lager. Drying and crisply bitter on the finish, this beer has a mild resiny character on the finish. The mouthfeel is fantastic, it's got the perfect combination of mellow malt, crisp hops with great balance between flavoring and bittering, and a beautiful fullness to the palate that I expect from the best Czech pilsners. *Just* a touch watery on the finish, I have to ding half a point here 'cos there's just one part of the back of my palate that isn't experiencing a post-coital glow.

This is about the most graceful beer I've had this year. It sashays over your palate, enchanting you with its beauty. Highly recommended, this is the best Czech pils that's still brewed (I'm looking at you, Dan Carey).

Bottle purchased at Belmont Station recommended by maltmaster420. I poured this into my Moonlight pint glass. The beer appears straw golden with great clarity and apparent effervescence. The white head is frothy and about two fingers high. Retention is good and some thick lacing is left behind.

The aroma is biscuity malt with spicy, floral, and earthy hops. Alcohol is nowhere to be found.

The flavor is slightly sweet biscuity malt with a medium level of bitterness. The hops are spicy and the alcohol is well masked. The finish is clean.

The beer is light bodied with a medium - high level of carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel.

This is a pretty straight forward Bohemian Pilsner. Pretty damn enjoyable.

Updated score from 4 to 4.5. This beer is fantastic.

Bottled on: 8/25/14.

Pours a hazy light orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, earth, and grass aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, earth, grass, and slight herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of earth and hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with nice assertive grass and herbal qualities all around.

Serving type: bottle.

Thanks to kscaldef for the bottle, been wanting to try this for awhile.

A - Pours a pale straw color, the first pils I've had (even craft) that's cloudy, maybe a good sign.

S - Spicy hops behind a toasty buscuit maltiness

T - Nice bit of hop bitterness balanced with a malitness that is not overly sweet, finishes clean and dry

M - This is less carbonated than most other pilners I'va had and works much better and I think adds to the drinkability.

This is a great pilsner, up there with Prima Pils and Dortmunder Gold, if I had regular access to this it would be my staple session beer.

From the undated 22oz bottle into a pilsner glass produces a very pretty bright golden body capped by a thin head of foam, lots of bubbles race to the top keeping the beer lively, there is lots of lacing.
Aroma is subdued, very clean cracker/yeast and a slight spicy hop. Smells just like a Pils should.
Taste is crisp cracker with a very pronounced floral bitterness that lingers, there is also a very prickly effervescence that is very satisfying and causes the beer to finish dry.
This is a lovely pilsner, the brewer should be justly proud of achieving this high a quality in such an unforgiving style.

Pours a half finger of head on a hazy straw body.
The aroma is bright honey and dry grains. Clean.
The taste starts smooth sweet, then mild moving to moderate bitterness, finishes long dry bitter. Nice profile and balance.
The texture is crisp and bubbly.

poured from bomber into glass. Pours a great clear straw color with a small head.

Crisp and pristine with really good aromas of crackers, noble hops, and grains. Very good depth and very aromatic.

Really good light body with a delicious crisp feel and flavors of crackers, biscuits and noble hops.

This was a spot on pilsner. Wonderful lighter body and real crisp. It was a real good night capper.

Pours clear amber from the 22 ounce bottle with one finger white head. Few lacings. Aroma is light malts. Taste is bitter hops with a good amount of sweet malts. Mouthfeel is perfect carbonation and a bitter dry finish. Overall a fabulous Pils with just the right amount of NW punch to make it a must have Pils. Sessionability is exceptional. I would like to see this beer in a face off with Prima Pils. I think H-A Pils would win.
Update: 03/23/09...
Body has become darker, almost a brown color. Still a nice Pils. Not a match for Czechvar PILS. So drink it fresh is my advice.

Nice aroma. Lingering unpleasant finish made this beer less than sessionable.
