This is where I go get all my beer making equipment and grains, hops, yeast and everything in between needed to make a great batch of beer. Prices are very reasonable and competetive compared to what you would pay online at the bigname companies without the shipping charges. The owner is very friendly and will go out of his way to accomodate any of you homebrewing needs. Anything he doesn't keep in stock he will get for you within a week and is happy to do so. Grain crushing is free and you can buy grains and hops in any amount right down to the ounce. Its also a great place to meet other homebrewers and has started a homebrew club in the Meadville area, he also offers wine making classes throughout the year. Most of all its a great place to go after work on a friday to swap and sample homebrews and homemade wines.

Windy Hill Wine Making Supplies is a gem for the home brewers in western PA and eastern OH. It is a small shop off of Rt. 19 S from Rt. 322 in Meadville (up on the hill near the K-Mart) and started as a small winemaking shop. The owner started brewing and quickly developed a passion for it. When I started homebrewing, I was ordering expensive supplies online. Then I found this shop, and started going there for all of my needs. Since then, the shop has expanded and added an entire room dedicated to beer making.
The store has a fair amount of home brewing supplies including carboys of several sizes and materials, airlocks a-plenty, sanitizers, racking supplies, lots of different bottles, tons of accessories. Heck, they even carry an inexpensive kegging system (with 5 gallon keg, regulator, and CO2 tank inlcluded). In addition to supplies, they carry a room full of many malt extract kits for beginners and seasoned homebrewers alike. They also carry a variety of malted grain which they will mill for you on the spot. On refrigeration are many types of hops and many types of yeast (including White Labs Yeast). There are alot of nick nacks there for brewing as well.
I'm ashamed to say that the owner's name has slipped my mind at the moment, but he's a middle-aged man who is very knowledgable about home brewing and winemaking. He is very helpful in helping you select items while in his store, and has a genuine care for what you want and need (instead of just trying to make a sale). He also holds meetings every month for local brewers to exchange ideas and beers, as well as beer making classes. The value of the store is very good and beats all prices I've found online (even before S & H)!
I would highly recommend this store. It's a small shop, so don't go expecting a superstore. However, for being practically in the middle of nowhere in northwestern PA, it's the best thing for a hundred mile radius (probably more than that). The owner was instrumental in getting my brewing off the ground, and I hope that this review can repay him and his shop.
FYI: The Voodoo Brewery in Meadville is up and brewing. I'm not sure when they'll open their brewery doors to the public, but if you can get beer from them while you're in town, you might as well try it. Make a day trip of it all!
