Pours a dark brown color. 1/4 inch head of an off-tan color. Decent retention and good lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight roasted malt, yeast, hint of oatmeal, slight toffee, hops, hint of pale malt, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an American Porter. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is a noticeable bitterness from the roasted malt and a warmth from the alcohol, but neither are overpowering. Tastes of sweet malt, slight toffee, hops, slight yeast, slight alcohol, and biscuit. Overall, decent appearance, good aroma, body, and blend.

Served on nitro-tap in downtown Janesville, WI. This pours a black color with creamy beige head. The flavor is full of roasted, toasted malts and grains. The texture is smooth, creamy full of flavor. It leaves a lingering roasted malt aftertaste. Pretty decent stuff and would love to have again.

Had out of the bottle at a local bowling alley...was served around 35º.

A=From what I could tell, it was a nice reddish brown.

S=Malt and cocoa.

T=The first gulp reminded me a bit more of cocoa powder or chocolate milk than beer--chocolate and malt, with a little sweetness; perhaps a bit of a cola taste as well. Cream came forward later on.

M=A bit too watery for a porter, and very lightly carbonated...but would make a decent session beer. Alcohol finally hit me about 3/4 of the way through.

O=More of a session beer than what I seek out in a porter...body was just a little too light for me, and the malt flavor was also a bit lacking. A nice beer, but still nowhere as near as good as Great Lakes' offering. Probably the second best porter from Wisconsin that I've tried, just slightly behind Wisconsin Brewing Company's porter. Worth a try if looking for a slightly lighter version of a porter.
