12oz bottle. No bottling date. Poured into an O'so snifter 10/14/2014. Finally reviewing this one out of the bottle after having it on tap many times.

A- Dark cola brown body, close to black. One thumb of mocha coloured head, good retention, nice thick collar and sporadic lacing. Altogether, appearance is as expected. [3.75]

S- Roast malts, caramel, freshly heated oatmeal, milk chocolate, coffee. Smells quite robust and strong. [4]

F- Milk chocolate, black coffee, caramel, lots of roast malt, a slight earthy bitterness on the backend to even things out. This tastes great, with some complexity and a lot of roast character to it that lingers along with the earthy hop bitterness. No flaws that I can really detect. [4.25]

M- On the thinner side of medium body, but plenty of flavour. Good carbonation and a nice pep to it in the beginning, otherwise smooth and silky as it goes down. As it warms up, a bit more alcohol comes out which I'm not a fan of. [3.5]

O- Nice tasting local porter that can go 9 rounds with the likes of GLBC Eddy Fitz and Founders Porter, but ultimately falls just short of these benchmark porters, especially in the mouthfeel department. Which is to say, this is a very good porter that I wouldn't mind having in the fridge from time to time. [4]

Final score: 4.05

Appearance: Pours fudge brown capped by an inch of tannish foam; a few dots of lace hang around the side of the glass

Smell: Roast, chocolate and a resinous dose of hops

Taste: Roast and chocolate, up front, with resinous hops building in the middle; coffee tones appear, after the swallow, with some more chocolate rounding out the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A very nice robust porter; the body is a little thin but otherwise the beer is pretty darn good

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. A new beer to me from O'so Brewing Company, acquired as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a very thick dark mahogany color; nearly opaque in the glass with just a bit of cola brown showing through when held to the light. A little less than a finger of tan foam head that recedes quickly. Leaves behind some nice strands of lacing.

S - The smell is kind of light, but is pleasant enough for what it is. Mild roast, cream, milk chocolate, vanilla, a hint of yeast presence, and some lactose. Very mild alcohol presence is noted.

T - Taste follows the nose - milky chocolate, cream, vanilla, coffee bean, roastiness.

M - The mouthfeel is silky smooth and creamy. Goes down easy. Medium-full bodied with medium carbonation.

Overall, a nice American Porter from O'so Brewing. I would love to see what the barrel aged version of this beer would be like, as it seems like a lively contender. A delicious, smooth, and creamy beer on it's own though. Recommended.
