12 ounce bottle poured into a standard duvel tulip glass. temp about 55F.

terms:
A=appearance
B=bouquet
T=taste
F=finish
O=opinion

A- pours nicely with good but small head. there's those hop cones- two of 'em. brussels lacing, quite nice.

B- soft hop and malt. very nice balance, nothing too over the top one way or another.

T- great balance between bitter and sweet; full body lets you know this is a strong beer. one of the finest balanced beers out there at this time, considering it's 9% ABV.

F- malt gives way to hops. not harsh however; reminds me a bit of popering's hommel ale from belgium, but bigger.

O- this is a really fine beer. o'so has found it's voice in this ale.

Purchased from Discount Liquors in Milwaukee, WI. Pours a dark copper body with a thick white head that last. Aroma is hay-like hops. Medium to full bodied mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Spicy malt flavors compliment the hops, but overall it is more sweet than necessary. Good, but I think it could be better.

Ah another one of the fabled mysterious beer reviews that just disappears down the road. Has a hop cone in the bottle! Pours a copper color, small head on it, white. I'm gonna give it extra points in the appearance category because it is so unique with that hop cone!

Aroma, bitter hops, not really lending itself to anything pine, tropical, I guess citrus, its kind of that generic grapefruit kind of bitter aroma.

Taste, solid, hides alcohol well, even though it does have a warming effect on the belly. Caramel not overdone, enough from making the beer a unbalanced bitter beer that isn't enjoyable. Plenty of hop oil in this one. Good sweet malt undertones. Resin, syrup like at times, but not in a negative way, in a substantial beer way. Cool, novel beer here.

Most of these bottles contain one or more hop cones (I've had as many as 4 in the 4 or so 4packs I've consumed). This is my first bottle without one, and I figure it's the best one to review. Though it is fucking cool to have a couple hop cones floating in the glass as you drink.

Lightly hazy apricot bronze with a low-slung beige head with moderate retention and lacing.
The hop assault is fruity, full of tangerine, grapefruit, mango, and papaya. And a touch of herbal/piney bitterness. The backing malt is honey sweet, heavy fruit syrup. I have a soft spot for a fruit cocktail DIPA like this, and it bears some similarity to Hopslam, at least in the nose.
It brings that heavy fruit syrup into the mouth right away. Apple notes. Cider-y sweetness. A bit of toasted grain, then more sweetness via honey. Hops bring their tropical punch. Mango. Grapefruit. Peach. Pineapple. A little pine needle earthiness. There are bushels of hop flavor, but it veers sweet the whole way.
It's full-ish bodied, and the carbonation is stunted, but it persists, keeping things moving the whole duration. This veers sweet, so that's considerably important. It's never stagnant or clingy.
Yeah, it's too sweet. But I'm a sucker for stuff like this. Though I can't help but to think what a somewhat more abrasive, bitter hop counterpunch would do to compliment/counteract all the fruitiness.

And yeah, it's a gimmick, but drink it with the cones in. And eat 'em if you want, if it's too sweet for you.

Big IBU yet still not a palate eraser. Fear and trepidation as I pour the bottle, examining for the pine cone. Liquid hop pellet level of IBU, very craftily malted down and therefore drinkable. Cloudy appearance. Fresh bottle from 20 West Wine and Spirits.

12oz single, scooped a 4pack and this is the last bottle

appearance: goofy o'so label - each bottle complete with 2 hop cones inside, pours into a nonic pint - both cones come racing out - dark copper-amber body, pillowy white head with wavy retention

smell: lots of hops - pineapple, tropical fruit, lots of citrus. punches you right in the nose - really nice

taste: i really like this - smooth with very low bitterness, pungent red grapefruit, touch of pine, small amount of misplaced alcohol. pineapple, sugar, tropical fruit

mouthfeel: medium, low bitterness

drinkability: good

poured into a pint glass

appearance: golden transparent hue, little to no head

aroma: strong nose with big hop nose, would be great, but theres a hint of onion in there that isn't as pleasant as i was hoping for from a beer with a hop in the bottle

palate: medium body, little carbonation, stingy feel

taste: nice blend of hops and malts, but the onion again keeps this one from getting a higher score

overall: a very tasty dipa from o'so. strong enough hop flavor to satisfy hop heads, but not the best blend of flavors/aromas to make this one one of the bests in the area. still definitely worth a pick up!

Deep golden yellow with a slightly hazy body. Outstanding frothy and dense white head, leaving considerable patchy lacing.

Pine tree and floral hop aromas with bready malt.

Resinous pine tree, tea leaf, and floral hops with a nice balance from bready and caramel malt. It's bitter, but still has great balance to it.

Mouthfeel is soft and medium body. Slight alcohol burn and a little bit astringent.

I was expecting this to be a decent IPA, but found it to be pretty damn good. I'd definitely buy it again.

Big thanks goes out to StayWhatYouAre2 for sharing this one at his own pre-marriage tasting! Thanks Alex! Served from bottle into a Boulevard tulip. Poured yellow-orange with a one finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, citrus, citrus hop, fruit, and floral. The flavor was of sweet malt, citrus, citrus hop, and fruit. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. While this one wasn’t overly complex all of the different components going on here were in great proportions and all worked really well together. I honestly went into this one blind and was quite intrigued with what I found. The fruit and floral aspect going on here definitely carried this brew into an upper tier of the style. A definite must try.
