12oz bottle.

Pours a deep, hazy amber with a small beige head that recedes to a thin collar.

Aroma is sweeter than I was expecting with candied apples, caramel malts and light fruits - peaches come to mind. There isn't a lot of citrus or pine that I get in the nose.

Taste has a bit more citrus with some oranges up front, but the caramelized sugar and sweet malts are still a big player and the finish is sweet with hints of pine but mostly a lingering sweetness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied but low on carbonation and comes across a little syrupy with the heavy sweetness dominating the palate.

In case you hadn't noticed, this is a very sweet DIPA, very light on the hops. It's not bad but it's not one of my favorites.

From from 12 oz bottle into CBS snifter.

A) Pretty dark amber. The hop cone in the bottle does not allow for a real head building pour. Bubbles did linger about on the surface. Really not much lacing.

S) Lots of sweetness on the nose. Ripe peaches and clementine oranges. There is also light pine and a little alcohol.

T) Decent Malt/Hops balance. A little pine prickle with nice tropical fruit. There's a little caramel and a bit of alcohol. A touch of rind on the finish with tingle layover.

M) Medium body with not much carbonation, actually a little flat for my palate. Went down well enough.

O) A solid offering... I found it more enjoyable than Hop Whoopin. I would recommend giving this one a shot. Cheers...

A - poured a beautiful deep amber with a slight amount of head.. and a full hop cone dropped out of the bottle. HOLY FUCK.

S - floral hop smell, lots of sweetness (honey, caramel) .. this smells like no beer i've ever smelled before - but more like a candy

T - pure sweetness. sugary, fruity and bready. bananas, caramel, toffee. a bit of a butterscotch taste. a bit of a rubbery bitterness to even out the sweetness, makes this perfect.

M - very heavy beer - smooth flowing but a bit creamy as well. sweet on the palate, bitter aftertaste.

O - i have NEVER had an IPA this delicious. received it in a trade with a friend as a random throw-in. if this is a run of the mill beer for wisconsin, then i have a LOT to learn and a lot of beers to acquire.

Poured into a Schlafly snifter.

Pours a nice hazy strong copper color with some nice amber hues. No head to speak off. A heavy swirl picks up a slight white film. Aroma is slightly sweet and piney and some nice citrus notes are present in there as well. Nose is a bit mild for a DIPA. Flavor starts off a bit mild but then again I don't think this brew is very fresh. However there is still some good hop juice notes in there and some nice slight citrus notes. Piney resinous notes as well as some sweet caramel malt notes. Pretty well balanced brew. Mouthfeel is light and the lack of carbonation is a bit off putting but not too much.

The brew is not bad but I don't think I would have it again. Maybe if I try a fresher bottle.

Pours out an coppery amber with minimal haziness, mild lacing and a single finger of short lived head... and of course a floating hop flower, the gimmick of this brew. Actually, it *is* kind of fun to pull out the hop flower and suck the delicious essence out of it like some kind of demented beer vampire....but I digress.
Has an excellent blend of spicy, earthy, herbal, grassy, pine, and tropical fruit in just about the same proportion both in the scent and in the flavor, but maintains a large hefty caramel and toffee malt presence to counterbalance. This brew is one of the sweetest IPAs I've ever had that still manages to feel balanced against the bittering included within. (I've had sweeter IPAs but they weren't what I would consider "well balanced") Body is on the hefty side of medium which does well to support the bold flavors, only has a small amount of rising alcohol heat towards the finish... overall this is quite a lovely IPA.

12 oz. bottle purchased locally, ($9.99/4). No date on bottle or on 4-pack. Poured into tulip glass.

A: Hazy copper; 1/4" off-white foam that leaves a thin film of lacing; ring of medium-sized bubbles and oil slick left at surface; no effervescence. The hop cone was lodged in the bottle neck and slowed down the pour, much like a wine cork that has been pushed into the bottle.

S: Strong pine hops, spicy & sweet floral.

T: Resinous pine, some caramel malt; slight citrus; moderate, growing bitterness.

M: Low carbonation, heavy body; very thick & chewy, rich and smooth; very dry finish; some warming.

O: It's an interesting idea, to put a hop cone in each bottle, a localized "Randall the Enamel Animal." An intense and informative experience. A search brought up Madison's Isthmus news review citing the hop bill of "Summit, Glacier, Chinook, Simcoe and the inserted Fuggles." Furthermore, the inserted flower was "taken from vines that grew this past summer at the Plover home of O'so Brewery owners Marc and Katina Buttera."

poured into a pint glass

appearance: golden transparent hue, little to no head

aroma: strong nose with big hop nose, would be great, but theres a hint of onion in there that isn't as pleasant as i was hoping for from a beer with a hop in the bottle

palate: medium body, little carbonation, stingy feel

taste: nice blend of hops and malts, but the onion again keeps this one from getting a higher score

overall: a very tasty dipa from o'so. strong enough hop flavor to satisfy hop heads, but not the best blend of flavors/aromas to make this one one of the bests in the area. still definitely worth a pick up!
