First of all, I'm reviewing the Spike's Maple 2013, one of O'so's one-off beers available on tap, only. I'm already thinking I'm gonna have to come back tomorrow before this runs out.

On tap at Mason Lounge. Am I lucky or what to stumble in here and have them just tapping this little keg that they've hung onto since the summer when it was released?

A reddish clear brown pour into an 18-oz. mason jar (thank you!!!), small off-white head, w/ lacing sliding down the glass due to some solvent alcohol. American brown ale aroma, like a strong oktoberfest, bready, w/ chocolate malt balls. Some floral bitterness in the nose.

Sweet but bright malt/hop flavor in the mouth. With a spicy, somewhat syrupy maple sugar sweetness, of course. Wonderful, autumnal flavor, w/ clove, bright coriander, sweet ripe orange, and booze. Milk chocolate and cherry syrup. Hops on the back end.

A - Reddish tan body and displaying minimal head.

S - Interesting aromas hear being of sweet maple and woody.

T - Very sweet and mild woody flavors. This is a very unique flavored brew.

M - Very thick and rich body, and very sticky! This is a great textured brew.

~ One and done. I indicate one and done here but that's because the brew is so unique and has such accented character, any more than one in a single sitting should not be done. My thought here is that it is actually too good to have more than one a a time. Try it, you'll see what I mean.
