Style | ABV
Belgian Dark Ale |  5.20% ABV

Availability: Rotating

Notes/Commercial Description:
This Belgian-style Brown Ale has a nice malty aroma and flavor that dominates over the moderate hop bitterness. A roasted, chocolate-like and biscuit-like aroma is derived from dark malts. Noble-type hop flavor and aroma, fruity esters and phenolic spiciness & slight tartness/acidity from the Belgian yeast are perceptible.

Had this in a 6 ounce sample glass. The color was on the red side, more a rusty red than a ruby red.

The smell was a bit candy like, with a definite brown sugar hint to it.

The taste was decent, and as expected. There was brown sugar, raisin, and a bit of spiciness. Not the most complex of this style I've had, but not bad.

I thought the mouthfeel was the weakest part of this one, was thin for this style. Overall, not the best beer in this style I've had, but still a solid entry. I would mind trying this again on my next visit.

This was the least favorite of the beers I had at the brewpub today.

It poured a dark, ruddy brown with a red glint in the light. It had a fairly good clarity, a slight haze, but not much visible yeast. A thin ring around the surface, it had trouble generating any sort of head. Toasted malt aroma, sort of sweet like wort.

Taste had a burnt toast flavor, with an earthy bitterness in the middle. It felt too slick and coating, and stuck to the palate for awhile. Low carbonation, and sort of dull overall.
