Saison / Farmhouse Ale |  6.00% ABV

Availability: Rotating

Notes/Commercial Description:
We curse daily at this beer because it takes so long to ferment, but it's worth the wait, despite our emotional scarring. This Belgian-style Saison has golden/light copper color, light body, medium hop bitterness, flavor & aroma, medium-low malt flavor & aroma and spiciness from added coriander. Fruity esters dominate the aroma while complex alcohols, acidity, low Brettanomyces character and clove and smoke-like phenolics from Saison yeast.

Had this on 2012-10-08 in Normal, IL at the brew pub.

A - Clear, light copper, 1/2-finger white head with good lacing.

S - Funk, hay, light sour and earthy spice.

T - Nicley tart. Spicy with a hint of burnt sugar. Citrus-tart. Fresh tasting. Moderately sour. All these flavors are in-balance and linger nicely into the aftertaste. Delicious.

M - Light body and high carbonation. Dries nicely and is refreshing.

O - Really a fine brew.

on tap at the champaign location. clear crisp orangeish body. no head just a thin ring around the glass. smell and taste are very fruity and spicy with a touch of earthieness. aromas of apples, bananas, oranges and bubblegum. a little coriander and other spices i couldnt pick out give this a well rounded profile. mouthfeel seemed kinda flat, but very juicy and drinkable. really liked this one, went very well with the swordfish tacos too.

Labor Day camping growler. Giant swingtop genie lamp shape, 67.7 oz. Filled & consumed same day, reviewed early in the day from notes.

It glugs into the glass a murky orange, with a thin skim and ring of larger bubbles at the edge. Spotty halo of lace left on the glass as its consumed. Aromas of bubblegum, summer weeds/wildflowers, sunflower seeds, coriander, grain of paradise. A clean and fresh nose to this saison. Flavors of tart fruit, apple, currant, and banana. Belgian yeast presence, with an earthy vegetal middle. A soapy herbal note that could be coriander. Finish was clean and dry. The lower carbonation and medium body reminded me more of a strong ale than a saison, but still it was interesting and refreshing. Good stuff, i'd drink this again and recommend it.
