An Imperial or 'Double' India Pale Ale with characteristically intense yet greatly balanced hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. It is deep golden-light amber/copper in color, although the use of the huge amounts of hops may cause a degree of appropriate hop haze. Alcohol strength is high but balanced by the hops and malt profile.

Canned March 2014; drank 5/8/14 @ the Yarchives.

Red/orange rust murkiness.

HUGE cream head; thick lace.

Cloying caramel nose, with hint of soap & urine.

Thick mouthfeel.

This tastes like a barleywine gone bad: overly sweet, sticky caramel with a hint o' piss. Terrible.

Pours a light copper color with some haze because of the large amounts of hops used. Has a nice slightly hoppy nose with a very smooth middle. The finish has a very nice smooth malt and just a little dry afterward. Very nice for a dipa i will habe to try more beers from them.

A: Pours a relatively clear copper in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and faint honey orange + golden yellow highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense foamy beige head that slowly reduces to a large patch of pillowy/cloudy half finger thick layer surrounded by a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of pine/resin, herbal, and citrus/grapefruit pith hops over sweet caramel malts.

T: Upfront there is a moderate to strong flavor of caramel and bready malts with a moderate amount of caramel sweetness which lingers. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of pine/resin, herbal, and citrus/grapefruit pith hops (in descending order of strength) which contribute a slightly stronger than moderate amount of bitterness which lingers slightly in the finish though the sweetness carries through as well.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Chewy with a light to moderate amount of dryness in the finish.

O: Perhaps slightly too balanced, not allowing either the malty sweetness or hop flavors/aromas really be the star. Easy to drink and enjoyable, just not that interesting.
