Pours black without much of a head. The nose is of chocolates and vanilla with some pumpkin spiciness (cinnamon and red hots). The taste follows the nose nicely, starting with sweet chocolates. Once the pumpkin porter moves to the back of the mouth, I got a lot of pumpkin spices, mostly nutmeg and cinnamon. The finish was sprucy bitterness, which I can't say I was really expecting, but it was a nice surprise. It goes down with a light body and medium carbonation, pretty damn smooth. This is a good porter, I always love drinking pumpkin stouts and this one didn't disappoint. I would definitely recommend this.

Served in an nonic pint glass fairly cold.

Appears to be black and opaque, but there's a reddish copper tint when light does in fact pass through. Foam is a very light shade of tan, with creamy texture and sticky properties. A halo of lace forms easily. Aroma is fairly subdued, light roast malt is the main smell. Very first whiff had some spice to it, but I couldn't get it again despite repeated swirls to release the aroma.

A low to medium level of roastiness with a layer of spices and earthy pumpkin flavor. There was the usual nutmeg and cinnamon, with an interesting addition of sprucey juniper. The spices were fairly mild, and everything came together well. It was light feeling for a porter, with a slight astringent bite from the carbonation. Almost more of an English Porter with the lack of hop bitterness. 200 lbs. of pumpkin is alot, but this didn't come across as overpowering. Not sweet at all, it was more dry with alot of roasted malt. Two pints were easy, this was a successful hybrid style pumpkin beer.

On-tap at Destihl Bloomington/Normal. Poured into taster.

A - Pours a light brown color, cream-colored head, thin collar, wisps.

S - Holiday spices, nutmeg, pumpkin, burnt sugars, roast, cinnamon. Really enjoyable, the pumpkin is very subtle and overpowered by the spices.

T - Similar to the nose. Nice mix of pumpkin, dark chocolate, roast, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I know there's a lot of pumpkin in this beer (per the description), but I'm actually wishing there was more.

M - Medium, good carbonation, creamy finish.

O - Really like this beer...a lot. The fiancé enjoyed it as well and I hope it's around next time I'm visiting the pub. Recommend.

Pours a dark brown color with a thin lacy white head. The aroma is strong and gives off a complex bouquet of scents including malt sweetness, pumpkin, and spices as well as the roasted coffee/chocolate aroma typically associated with porters. The flavor is a great combination of spices with pumpkin to give an exact copy of a pumpkin pie taste. Very impressed with the decision to make a pumpkin porter. Most pumpkins are much lighter ales but the porter style provides a nice thick body with moderate carbonation to support and enhance the flavor. The flavor finishes very clean and fades slowly leaving the great pumpkin flavor behind to linger and make you wonder if you just drank a beer or ate some pie.
