Style | ABV
Belgian Pale Ale |  4.90% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
A Belgian-style abbey ale crafted like those that Trappist monks brew for their own session beer. It is light bodied, light in color and relatively lower in alcohol with spicy phenolics and complex fruity esters of cherries, nectarines, peaches and bubblegum with a characteristic slightly tart and dry finish from the Belgian yeast.

Light golden color. Sturdy head remains as a layer of film. Elegant lacing.

Fruity, citric aroma. Mild yeast character. Somewhat spicy. Soft bread in the nose as well.

Gentle bready malt character, light and smooth. Herbal hop spicy. Hint of cloves. Yeasty. Well balanced.

Light bodied. Well carbonated. Smooth thought with a slightly crisp finish.

Nice Belgian session brew. Light in body but enough complexity to excite the palate.

Pours a clear golden color with a frothy white head that little bits of lacing.

Smells of sweet grains and some fruits.

Tastes of the grainy sweetness with a layer of fruits and a little spice. Grainy sweetness leads off with a touch of bread. This gives way to a bit of fruits with pear and apples coming through mostly. A touch of peppery spice comes towards the end. All of the right notes are present, but it comes off a bit light.

Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is okay, but not really worth a look.

12 ounce can poured into a tulip. Hazy straw color with a solid finger and a half of white foam. Steady layer of bubbles racing up from the bottom of the glass. Thin and intermittent lines of white lacing lining the glass as the head quickly collapses into a small but resilient 1/4 inch crown that does not disappear.

Light hay-like aroma. Barnyard yeastiness, pale, grainy malts, and floral hops. Bubble gum. Doughy aromas and light fruit esters along with a clove and white pepper spiciness comes through as the beer warms.

First sip lets on a very crisp, balanced flavor. Yeast-forward with a slight touch of funkiness. Grainy malts with a sharp sting from the spicy phenols. Lighter tropical fruits. Just the smallest bit of acetic sour and mildly bitter finish.

Lighter bodied and well-carbonated. Smooth with a crisp finish.

Overall, this is a great sessionable lawnmower beer for those with more yeasty Belgian tastes. Balanced and drinkable at a fairly low ABV.
