On-tap 4/14/2012 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub, in Pawtucket, RI served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains bananas, wheat, citrus, light caramelized malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready from flavors of wheat and a hearty malt character. Then some sweet flavors of bananas, citrus and caramel come in. The hops presence is milk but brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid Hefeweizen to drink for a while but at $8.25 for a 10oz. pour there are several better and less expensive options within the style.

Pours a cloudy golden orange. Very little head and no lacing. Aroma is of tart fruit, and bready malts. Body is thin with some carbonation. Taste is of sour dough, sour fruit. Not tart...sour. Not a lot of what I like so much about this style. Not very goodin my humble opinion. I recommend you avoid.

I do love Mission beer but this one was just aveage. Nothing really jumped out at me. Has a ligher taste then I like from a Hefeweizen. And it is very light in substance. Not sure if it is just becuase it was in a bottle for longer then it should have been but reading other reviews on this I agree with most every one else. Good taste... just not a lot of it.

I found this to be a fairly respectable take on the style, if not outstanding or exceptional. Overall it sticks pretty close to the tradition. Cloudy orange color with a big fluffy off white head and good lacing. Appearance is fairly spot-on.

Expected aroma of yeast, spices, banana, clove, bubblegum. Continues in the tasting, with banana and clove dominant. Touches of lemon tartness and a fairly high degree of sweetness for the style. Nothing outlandish or surprising here.

Mouthfeel is decent enough, with a body on the medium-thin side and good carbonation. Finishes clean.

I am a pretty big fan of hefeweizen and rarely buy one not made in Germany as they’re readily available and set the standard by which all others must be measured. I also live very close to a German beer garden which always has a few wheat beers on offer at the height of freshness. I’d have to say by comparison Mission has done a respectable job here and I’m glad I tried this but I can’t see myself coming back when the real thing is both better and easier to get AND priced about the same.

A - The body was a golden yellow with a slight haze to it...there was two fingers worth of white head...despite the carbonation bubbles the head fell quickly to a wispy cap and didn't leave much lacing behind

S - Rather weak on the nose...banana, yeast, and some fruitiness...a little watered down as well

T - Of course the banana is the first flavor that jumps out...it's followed by a creamy, chewy yeast...I usually don't mind that in a Hefe, but there was something a little weird about it...a sweet flavor comes in towards the end of the beer...caramel dipped wheat malt is what comes to mind

M - Medium bodied...sweet with caramel and fruit...but there's something odd lingering in there as well

O - I know the intent for this beer was there, but it just came up short on all aspects...the nose was weak and there was an odd flavor throughout the beer...I'll stick with Mission's IPAs

Pours a curiously clear gold with no head or lace, odd for a hefeweizen. The aroma is of dough, some citrus, and a hint of vanilla. The flavor is typical hefeweizen banana, a little subdued, dough, and a malty sweetness. The mouthfeel is light-medium. Mission Hefeweizen is an average brew, recommended.

On tap at Mission brewery.

A: Hazy yellow orange with an inch of white foam.

S: White pepper and clove with grainy malt. Esters are redolent of banana, pear, and bubblegum. Nice.

T: Banana and lightly spicy clove notes accompany bubblegum. Malt is grainy with some wheat. All aspects are balanced.

M: Lower medium body with medium carbonation.

Overall: A good American-made Hefeweizen.

Bottle from Premiere Gourmet. No a great representative of the style, this beer has some spot-on characteristics of the style and some poor ones. Pours unfiltered look, but also light orange with rising carbonation bubbles. Some orange and wheat aroma but also a little stinky. Sour wheat was OK, some sips tasty, but also off notes. A bit thin for the style. I did not finish the bottle.

Found it at a BevMo in the local craft beer section. Pours heavy, no head whatsoever. Hazy color, very little carbonation. Not a whole lot of bite, I guess I prefer a hefe that's a little bit more crisp and flavorful. Overall, I gave it a shot as a local brew, but wasn't very impressed.

Pours a dark yellowy orange with a head that doesn't stick around long. Scent is of pear and clove. Taste is banana and spicy yeast. I haven't tasted this much spice in this style before. A nice change from what most hefeweizens taste like. I would definitely have another at some point.

Pours an uber cloudy gold color with active carbonation but little to no head. Some yeast floaties also present. Scent is mild for the style and combines white bread, banana, orange cream and mild spice. Taste leans towards fruity and sweet with banana and creamsicle and a white bready backbone with mild clove and peppercorn. Medium bodied and creamy but feels like a slurry at the end when the carbonation escapes and all that's left is yeast in suspension, finishes dry. Odd beer, lacking in many fronts but not all together bad.

On tap at Stone's 15th Anniversary

A: Hazy golden color with a thin cream colored head.

S: Banana Laffy Taffy with a bit of clove in the background.

T: Typical hef flavors of banana, clove and wheat. The mouthfeel is a little too heavy and weighs the flavors down a bit.

Light hazy orange with less than a finger of white head that immediately dies. This was with a hard pour, as well.

Banana, bubblegum and clove over some doughy malts.

Good banana flavor, with a bit of clove. Nice tartness. Some doughy malt as well.

Needs a lot more carbonation, feels thicker than it is due to the lack.

At least they got the yeast flavors right.

Pours a cloudy/ milky yellow to brown color with an off white head. In the aroma, dry bananas and yeast. In the taste, big spices, dry banana and a yeasty end. A spice bite and medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a dry banana and spice in the aftertaste. I felt it was overly yeasty, and asked how long this keg has been on, thinking it was the end of the barrel. I was told this is the second one they tapped and it has been like this continuously. Everything was fine in smell and taste, except o bit yeasty, but it looked like hell.
