An easy pour gives a finger of white head over a straw colored body. The body is murky with a little bit of solute seen floating around near the bottom.

I smell malt with a hint of grape. This transitions into a gardeny hop aroma with a hint of spice fleshing it out.

The body has a clean taste. Grainy malt mixes with a bitter gardeny hop very well. Hint of grape peel and spice completes it.

This beer is medium to light bodied. It doesn't leave any residue but is rather dry on the finish. It will dry your tongue out to a point where it almost feels as though its leaving something behind.

Poured into a stange.

3.0 A: Lightly hazed medium yellow color. About one finger of frothy white head. Retention is below average and just a wisp of lacing is left.

4.0 S: This smells pretty damn good. Clean, grainy maltiness. Grassy hoppiness with light floral and earthy notes. Simple, yet elegant like the style is supposed to be.

4.0 T: Like the nose, simple and wonderful. Grainy malts with just enough neutral malt sweetness. Grassy hops foremost and floral and earthy undertones. Super clean.

4.5 M: Medium body, which is the perfect amount for this. Good moderate carbonation. Good creaminess and supremely smooth.

4.5 D: This beer is damn drinkable. It's tasty and refreshing. No problems at all. Simply great.

Pours a murky light orange with a foamy tan head that fades to nothing. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and grassy aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, fruit, and grassy flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate that lingers long after each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is drinkable and refreshing.

On draft at Hops and Pie, $6 pint. This was listed as a kolsch on the menu. Aroma was slightly fruity, I guess it could be a kolsch. Flavor lacked the crispness I would expect and also had a sort of dirty quality that may have been the malts. I didn't much care for this and I'm not sure how close this hews to the style.

Blonde in color, that makes perfect sense, the head was fizzy, vastly carbonated and disappeared in a wisp.

A stale roasted grain permeates a relatively one dimensional aroma. Weak in stature the scent barely deviates from the grain but does take on a toasted breadiness near the end of the nose.

The taste is rather surprising being the nose was very singular. Toasted grain, roasted nut, pecan, bread and malts all hold tight for a smooth easy ride.

Overall, this is an interesting experience of highs and lows but ultimately taste wins out.

Incredibly light, smooth, and delicately characterful- Mission Blonde has a friendly nose and a subtle grainy, herbal backspin. Its the perfect ale for when you thought you wanted a Lager- this is simply what well made Kolsch do.

Its with a most timid hazy straw color that the beer pours. Its light color and racy carbonation offers a mild champagne-like appearance. Capped with a fluffy and airy head, the foam is long lasting and playfully sticky on the glass.

Delicate floral aromas are somewhat of honeysuckle and lilac. But with a grassy and grainy foundation, its scent is rustically earthen and with the lightly sulfur of burnt matches. Fruit notes of apple skins and dried lemon peels keep the fragrant notes wafting above the grain and malt.

And to taste, the beer is subdued in its sweetness, yet still evokes a light bready, cracker-like taste to start the show. Its perfumy middle turns herbal, lightly citrusy, and with a touch of fresh cut grass. Morphing into a soft grain finish, the taste is balanced, crisp, and very clean.

Light in body, its obvious that the ale is trying hard to be a Lager. Early carbonated creaminess is tame to start, but is further dried by fleeting bubbles and receding sweetness- leaving behind a dry, crisp, and refreshing mouthfeel with mild minty warmth and soft grain-derived astringency.

Mission hits the market with a fine Kolsch-style ale which is characterful enough to appease the craft beer crowds but uses enough finesse to win over adjunct lager buyers with ease. Its a wonderful ale that's very forgiving with food and mood ranges.
