Very dark appearance with just the right amount of head and carbonation. Pleasant aroma. . Great taste very smooth with a little alcohol taste. This beer may improve with a little aging. Could potentially raise the score closer to 5

22oz bottle split between a pair of large snifters. No dates that I can see.
Pours black -- the rim is just slightly translucent, with a slight reddish tinge. Not much head, just a ring and a stretched out, thin island. Small amount of very fine, very slow carbonation. Smell is stouty with bourbon. Coexisting, but not very mingled. Lots of anise and a little smoky chocolate.
Taste is super anise, surprisingly chocolatey, surprisingly sweet. Not quite syrupy -- molasses. Definitely some smoke.
Mouthfeel is a little gritty, a little dry, not bad. Pretty good beer.

Poured into a snifter at room temperature.
A - Pours a nice deep, dark black color with two fingers of light brown head. The head dissipates moderately to leave a long lasting lacing.
S - Bourbon, coffee, chocolate and vanilla on the nose. Very little hop smell.
T - Chocolate and coffee with a light amount of bourbon and vanilla. A small amount of dark fruits on the finish.
M - Moderate mouthfeel and carbonation and a little on the dry side.
O - My first ale by NWB. A little light as BBA stouts go but nicely balanced.

A: Dark black pour with a thin head and light lacing.
S: Lightly sweet aroma from the barrel with a hint of chocolate and roasted malts.
T: Well balanced flavor of bitter and sweet. Hint of coffee and mocha and hazel nuts.
M: Smooth, clean, and refreshing. Very easy to drink this too fast.
O: Well done oatmeal Stout. I look forward to more of it.

Deep brown, nearly black pour with a lively deep tan head that dissipates to form a lasting ring. Aroma is fresh, roast coffee, vanilla, bourbon and dark chocolate. Flavor follows suit, with the addition of dark fruits (date, prune and fig). Body is firm and velvety, but could be fuller. This is a very balanced and smooth stout with very little heat for only three months in the barrel. The finish is very long, rich, fruity, roasty and dryish. Very nice!
