Trade Route achieved their creative best when they brewed Asian-influenced beers with exotic ingredients. Perhaps they should have stuck with what they knew, as this imperial IPA is frightfully lame. It begins well enough with a mostly clear bronze body sporting a hearty head. But in my notes I jotted down, "marshmallow fart aroma" and that can't be a good thing.
The essence of this beer is that it is frightfully over-hopped (with Tomahawk) and delivers no pretense of balance. But the lack of malt balance doesn't bother me so much as the utter lack of finesse among those 88 IBU of burdensome hop excess. The flavor comes across as punky and quasi-sour - like a plate of wilted cabbage. On top of that, the name Knuckle Dragger has been a standard among Walking Man's lineup for years. Pass.

Poured a deep orange color with good carbonation and a dirty white head. Nose is faint, dry, caramel and maybe extract. taste is pretty much all hops, no malt here. Really no flavor besides the big hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is filled with hops, a big annoying bitterness that left me with a aftertaste for about an hour. Tasted very metallic and way off balance. Drinkable yes, but its harsh. Plus Knuckle Dragger is Walking Man territory only.
