Give this crap a miss. sulfuric eggy nose, really grainy malts and very thin, could have been the most boring beer of the day. Hard to write too much about this one, other than it bored the hell out of me, no good, just way too thin (Cask- ChelmsfordBF 03)...

The lowest abv of the Harveys lineup and the darker counterpart to the seasonal Knots of May. My first mild on cask as well... bear with me. Imperial pint glass, hand pumped.

Dark body, copper woody brown, no head, no lace.

Roasted malt, herbal notes (might be a Harveys thing..), more grassy hops! I should have done a side by side with these as they all seem to have the same hop character, rather odd.

A bit of fruit in the palate, more of the same hop character (gets a bit boring!), medium body, appropriate carbonation. Herbs in the finish are a bit tired as well. Mediocre.

This dark copper colored beer had a thin tan head, wispy yet pattrened rings of lace coated the glass. Wonderful hop aroma with some roast. I didn't care too much for the taste of this beer. Sharp licorice like notes were prominent and a bit too much.mouthfeel was substantial yet not filling. Did not inspire me to have another, in fact I regret heavily not trying one of the many other Harvey's beers on cask that day at The Royal Oak in London. Not bad just a bit of letdown and still wonder if it might have been a tad off.

On cask, this beer is very good. A lovely dark brown color in the light, swirling thin head on top. While waiting for it to settle, it has a good nose, full of roasted malt. The taste is a little better than Brain's Dark, but that might just be that Sussex is closer to London than Wales. Another wonderful British beer.
