Chappy's has been open for a few months, and I have now been there a handful of times. In particular, they have a lot of tvs, and the Big 10 Network, so I watched a few games there. Chappy's has a bar area, that is sort of enclosed, with several tables. There are also two dining areas. The atmosphere is more of an upscale sports bar, without being overly swanky.

Chappy's has a good tap selection, and a pretty good bottle selection. There are around 30 taps, but only a handful seem to rotate. Selection includes Bell's 2 Hearted, Buckeye Hippie IPA, DFH 90 min., Chimay White, Erdinger Hefe, and Hennepin. Season handles do change, most recent including Bell's Winter White, GLBC Xmas, and New Holland Dragon's Milk. Bottle selection is probably around 40 or 50, and run across styles just at the tap list. Good variety of glassware.

Each time, service has been good, and very friendly. Food includes some good BBQ ribs, fried chicken, fish, a few salads and appitizers. When I have been there, most people seem very pleased with the sides, such as cole slaw, green beans, etc. Prices seem a bit high for food, but for draft beer it is reasonable. Bottles can be pricy depending on the particular beer.

Chappy's is a good place to grab a bite, and wash it down with a couple great brews. You could watch a game there, or just simply enjoy conversation. This was well needed in this area.

Neat little place close to home. A little broken up between bar area and dining areas. Also a bit too dark, especially for reading menu's.

We were there for a reserved birthday party. The staff set up more than enough seating for our number of guests. That was nice.

I had an apple martini and a sangria. The sangria was wonderful! So if your wife doesn't like beer, there are other options available by the glass.

My husband asked for Sam Adams, but was surprised when they didn't have it at least by bottle. He settled for both a Clown Shoes Space Cake and the Luchador En Fuego. He said the Space Cake was very good, but the Luchador En Fuego was too much. Could hardly tell it was a beer. Could be better as a cocktail mixer.

The server was knowledgeable about the beers my husband talked about and quick to return to the table to check on us. They were very busy too as it was a Saturday night.

Food was excellent but a bit pricy, although all the portions of what everyone ordered were huge! Almost everyone took home a to-go box. I had the Garlic Shrimp linguini. It was a special for the night and awesome! My husband had the full rack of ribs, and said they were very, very good.

All in all, very good place to eat and so many different beers, (except for Sam Adams), that it makes it fun to go there.

Chappys is an interesting place in a stip mall in South Dayton. I go there a couple times a month to see what's on tap (30+ taps). Lot of Belgians if that's your style. Staff are friendly. Always set at in the bar area as opposed to the restaurant seating section. It may be this dichotomy that makes it kinda strange. Not sure if they want to be a restaurant or a bar or brewpub or what. It's OK but the vibe is odd. Food is good but the menu never changes so that can get old quick. Parking is generally available but being in a strip mall it can be hit or miss at times with the other businesses.

Incredible selection of beer that is in constant rotation, so it's easy to find new beers every time you go. The food is fantastic, definitely try the white BBQ sauce. Love going here and being part of their beer club makes things fun. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

First time at Chappy's and I must say I came away impressed. Wait was on the low end of a half hour which was less than one would think for 7 on a Saturday. Lots of room at the bar to sit while we waited. Tap selection was good to great, there wasn't a lot that I haven't tried but I was able to find some gems that were just imported.

Service was good too. I don't rely on other people to tell me about beer so I can't comment on if they were beer savy. Food prices were a little higher than some other places but it was still reasonable. One of the better beer restaurants I've been to.

Chappy's is my favorite bar in Dayton hands down. The servers and bar staff are extremely knowledgeable about every beer and can recommend certain beers based on what you like. The selection and rotation is the best I have ever experienced. I have finished the first Beer Club and am currently working on the 2nd version of 100 draft beers.

The food here is always amazing but can be a little pricey. The buffalo chicken sandwich is my favorite and is always a huge portion. Its nice they do have a kids menu as we take our kids on occasion.

Also there are almost always special events with different breweries, for special tappings as people finish the extreme beer club, musicians on weekends or trivia on Mondays.

Overall I can definitely recommend Chappy's to anyone looking to try new beers, have some good food, and be surrounded by quality staff who know what they are talking about but aren't on a beer-snob level.

OK...so, compare to Tanks Bar and Grill (the other fav beer haunt in Dayton), Chappys wins...

but they're different enough that they almost serve two different audiences. Chappys has the better beer selection, and better food, but it comes at a cost, literally.

you go to these two places for two different reasons: Chappys for a special occasion, and Tanks for a flat-out-great neighborhood experience.

Just TRY Chappys loaded chips or their po-boys. bar none in the Dayton area.

if only their beer club was less constricting, limiting you to such standard fare as sam adams, i'd be there every week. as is, the buds and i make it once or twice a month...

highly recommended. you don't get much better than this in Dayton, really....

I have been going to Chappy's since it opened.

A great place with great atmosphere, great food and a always changing selection of great beers.

Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their beer selection.

They have a beer menu with a list of all current offerings and information about each. They list on the beer menu whats coming ion new so you can anticipate the next trip.

Check out their website. Their menu is posted for food and current beer offerings.

Their ribs are really good and I recommend the cajun shrimp appetizer.

I found this place thanks to beer advocate. I went for dinner tonight. They have some tvs, so you can watch the game, but based on the layout of the restaurant and the menus it is clear this isn't your average sports pub. The atmosphere was more upscale than I expected- however the restaurant was darker than I though it should have been.

They have an extensive beer selection and lists to explain the choices. Take a look at the website if you're looking for something specific.

The food was very good and reasonably priced considering the portion. I ordered the ribs with macaroni and cheese and cheesy potatoes.

The service was excellent, I will be back.

Although a little out of the way from downtown Dayton, this place is a worthy detour! I've been going since they opened and lets just say the patronage has tripled since then.

Atmosphere is very nice, they have a sit down/dine room, party room, great bar space with high top tables and a patio that is a little on the small size.

Just grab the "Beer Bible" and go nuts, multiple taps and a huge bottle list. Taps are constantly rotated as this place acquires some of the harder to get kegs in Ohio. Had Goose Island Dominique last time I was there!

The Food = Amazing! Best fried chicken in the area! Home made loaded potato chips are a must as well as the hand cut fries. You won't be disappointed by the cuisine just maybe the prices, which aren't out of this world but a little pricey.

Service is great. Staff seems to be very knowledgeable and trained on new tap selections. Some are more beer geeks than others.

All the brews come with glassware suited for the style as long as there are some left (sometimes it gets busy).

Make it a point to stop by and enjoy a great dinner with a few great beers!

Cheers.

Sat on the backpatio area for a friends b-day party.

Great selection of brews. They have a very extensive bottle and tap list and the servers seem pretty knowledgeable about the stuff on tap. The rotate everything pretty regularly and have a rewards club card that gives you a discount. I didn't order food but a few in our party did and they seemed to enjoy everything.

I had bottles of Hoppin Frog B.O.R.I.S. and SN Bigfoot. Both were reasonably priced.

They do have a cool atmosphere with live music on the weekends and plenty of tvs to watch sports.

Overall a pretty cool place that I would visit again.

This is a great beer bar and it's nice to finally see one south of town. Probably the best fried chicken I've had around Dayton hands down. I would like to see the menu change a little bit. It has always been the same every time I go in and the specials are always the same as well. My girlfriend actually won't go anymore, because she wants to see something else on the menu.

The service is great. All the bartenders know their beer and surprisingly so do most of the wait staff.

They have 30 taps and 100+ bottles.

The only thing I wish they did a little better at, the selections on tap. With 30 taps they should have almost every popular style represented. And they should rotate more of their taps more often. And please can we get some sour beers in there.

All and all I would recommend this place to anyone in town.

As a member of the 100 beers club, I would say Chappys is one of my favorite bars in Dayton. The amount of enjoyment is highly based on who your server is but overall this place is great. The beer selection is great and their weekly turnover on seasonals always gives you new things to try. The food is also a highlight. It may not be the best for for you to eat but it is really good. Their appetizers are filling and the dinners are made for two. Their cheesy potatoes are to die for. I would definitely recommend Chappys to anyone, oh and ask for Larry if you go

The first thing that stands out about Chappy's is the incredible beer selection. By my count, they have approximately 14 craft brews that are always on draught, including some great selections such as Dogfish Head 90 IPA, St Bernardus 12, Hoeggarden, Chimay White, Southern Tier Unearthly, Oak aged Arrogant Bastard and more. In addition, they also have at least another 5-10 rotating drafts of seasonals and other beers, not to mention around 100 or so bottled selections. Many of the beers are served with the glassware from the brewery. Staff is friendly and cordial -- there are many TV's in the bar and restaurant area, but they are typically placed in corners and high on the wall -- I wouldn't necessarily classify it as a sports bar. They often have special events going featuring a particular brewery or special -- check their website and mailing list for these! In the past year, they've added a frequent beer club promotion -- you get a card and they check off beers from a list of 100 as you drink them. This definitely helps move their bottled beers and keep them fresh. My only critique, is although the food is good, it would be nice if they had a little more variety with some healthy and/or a vegetarian option.
