This years version (2012) clocks in at 8%.

A - Served with a clear copper colored body...the head was short lived and quickly settled to a thin ring...not too much lacing was left

S - It was served a little too cold so the aroma didn't open up too much...it wasn't overly sweet, but there was a nice caramel presence along with a toasted grain aroma

T - The beer wasn't too cold to hide all the flavors...it opens with a nice dose of caramel and toffee...again the sweetness level never reaches a point of being cloying...the toasted grain adds depth towards the middle of the beer...the alcohol level never becomes noticeable, but it adds body to the beer...the caramel comes back for the finish

M - Medium bodied...smooth, slightly sweet, no alcohol presence

O - This paired really well with dinner...although the alcohol wasn't present, I would have to be careful because it does tend to go down easy (908 characters)

Served as a medium copper colored beer with moderate slightly off-white puffy head. Smell is richa dn malty with some dark fruit present. Taste is very enjoyable with as a firm sweetness and a small bit of hops in the background. Nice full creamy mouthfeel. Great drinkability. Good interpretation of the style. (311 characters)

Poured out as a nice looking copper color with a very light tan colored head on top. The head settles and doesn't lace too much. The smell of the beer was a little on the light side but had the aroma of some spices and caramel. The taste of the beer is better in the aftertaste, the spices really come to life as you get ready for the next sip. The mouthfeel was smooth. Overall this was a pretty good brew. (407 characters)

A very good version of an Oktoberfest made by the Golden Avalanche Brewing Company on this one. Their Oktoberfests are always very interesting, and this one was no exception. The amber color gets your attention from the very beginning. The malt and slightly spicy aroma is enticing, but not overpowering. The head leaves a decent lace as you finish your pint. This brew goes well with anything on their menu at the Tavern, especially their German Sampler.
