"Citra One Hop" is how the beer is listed on EBB Burien's blackboard, but it's described on the website as "One Hop Pale Ale w/ Citra." So I'm calling it a pale.

My server at EBB Burien asked some questions of the beer expert for me, however, and he described Citra One Hop as something between a Pale and an IPA, or perhaps a hopped Pilsener.

Not listed in the Hop Guide here at BA, Citra Hops are a variety released in 2008 and composed of (per brewdude.com):
50% Hallertauer Mittelfrüh
25% U.S. Tettnanger
25% East Kent Golding, Bavarian, Brewers Gold, and other unknown hops.

Given those hop varieties, a European type lager could be expected. But after tasting it, it really is a hoppy blend of APA, IPA, and Euro-lager.

On to the review:
On-tap at EBB Burien. Poured into a thin-waisted pint glass (this review from notes taken 7/23/11).

A - Poured a golden amber orange, and slightly hazy. 1/2-finger off-white head composed of small to medium bubbles. Good retention, thick lace. Beer shines golden yellow wehn helad up to the light.

S - A moderate and well-balanced citrusy/floral and resiny hop nose. Hints of orange as well.

T - Moderate sweet oranginess and herbed resinous flavor gives way to a dry hop flavor, followed by moderate bitterness that just barely dominates the flavor profile. Hints of tangerine and melon (possibly mild canteloupe), and a subtle wheaty finish.

M - Light to medium body, mild fizzy carbonation. Refreshing and thirst-quenching.

D - Great balance of floral/citrus sweetness with the dry hoppy bitterness. Overall a great flavor, with nice medium body and very refreshing finish. Tasty!
