The first neon sign you see when you walk into Shangys says it all...welcome to beer heaven!

Stopped by here without the intention on buying anything, just browsing. Big mistake...starting thinking of things I could sell at home in order to get more money!

They pretty much have everything you could want (that PA gets at least). I do not often buy beer in cases, but all the prices seemed reasonable enough. The selection is an obvious strength, but they also are organized and everything is clearly priced.

If you want to buy a case of beer in the state of PA, this is your place!

I go there for the prices and selection. Owner was an ass. They had a special on Red Strip, but when I went they were out of it. So I called owner and asked if I could get the Red Stripe Light for the sale price and he said "no" in a rude manner. Would it have been that big of a deal to make a customer happy? Blond girl at front cashier drawer needs a few lessons in friendliness....it's the last impression you get when you leave....and it ain't a good one from her. She is that way every time I come in.......I knew a chick like that once....she hadn't had sex in a really long time, but once she found a dude that satisfied her, she started to crack jokes! One time when the blond went to ring me up and the sticker was a dollar less than what the beer was ringing up at the register....it was only a dollar less than what it was ringing up and she wouldn't even give if for the price it was stickered.....She might be related to the owner.....LOL

Was a fan of this place. Called for almost a month looking for founders harvest ale. Was always polite on the phone. Eventually, a guy took my name and said he would hold me a case. Just called today. Said they had gotten it in and all sold out. Nothing for me. I knew it was too good to be true. Would have been better if he hadn't offered in the first place. So now 61 BrewThru it is.

This place takes the concept of retail beer distribution to a whole new level.

Instead of it being some warehouse with palettes of beer covered in plastic wrap, this is an actual beer boutique.

Yet the prices are actually much cheaper than most of the bang up places that you'll find scattered across all of NEPA.

Make the trip here, you wont be disappointed.

Best beer store in the Lehigh Valley area. Great selection of craft beer from the US and all over the world. The staff is very knowledgeable about beer and are always willing to find something for you if you don't feel like wandering around aimlessly in search of a certain brew. They have both bottles and kegs available and they are both retail and wholesale. Highly Recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.

I have mixed feelings about Shangy's. I've had both: my share of good times and bad.

The positives:

The is a huge selection of beer from around the world
Quite a few employees working if you need help
Reasonable prices.

The negatives:

Run like a business...doesn't have that warm, welcome feeling I like when I go to other distributors
Ownership can be rude at times
Lot of beer also means lot of out dated beer. Watch for the skunked beer.
Tough to find many of the smaller, local craft brews

Overall I have stopped going to Shangy's and have enjoyed shopping for my beer elsewhere.

I used to live within 20 minutes of this place which was both a blessing and a curse.
There certainly isn't any case distributor in the valley that comes close with selection. It's clean, brightly lit and well kept.
The staff isn't the most helpful with recommendations though they certainly aren't unpleasant- save the one cashier. Nima, the owner, is one of the sweetest guys you'll meet and a nice chat if you're able. If you're looking for something they don't have in stock but are able to order, they'll usually accommodate which is very nice.
It's been said over and over in the reviews but I'll echo the sentiment for checking the dates on the more obscure(especially import) cases. Usually not an issue but it happens.
Pricing is spotty; you'll find some deals and you'll find some high, though that's no new phenomenon.
Worth a trip if you're in the area and want to lighten your wallet,

I've been a Shangy's customer and fan for over 20 years. This is simply the best beer store I've ever seen or heard of. Top marks for quality, quantity, variety, and generally really good value. Staff is mostly knowledgeable and owners are really into good beer. "Welcome to Beer Heaven"!

One of the most well known distributors/wholesalers in the Lehigh Valley. HUGE selection of many different beers: East Coast, West Coast, European. You can spend a good hour or more trying to make a selection, I know I have on many occasions, the "Beer Heaven" sign does not lie. Staff is always helpful; they can/will help you make a selection, put it on a cart and take it to your car for you!
Of course with any time you are buying beer, you have to check dates as much as you can, because sometimes there is old beer.
Well maintained facebook page which is updated 6 days a week with a "Beer of the day". They do not hold cases so if it is a rarity and they have it in stock best to get there as soon as you can.
Either way if you are in the area you need to check it out!

The "Beer Heaven". A little far for me but once there, I was very impressed. HUGE selection, friendly and helpful staff, nice atmosphere. I only wish it was a little closer for me...but that's not a knock on them by any means. I hope to get there again before the holidays to stock up!!

This place is hit or miss and you have to be very careful and know the coding of your favorite beer. i have gone in several times and found beers out of date and severly over priced. if you do your homework and search around most of the time your can find beer cheaper and fresher some where else. While the place does have a great selection of beers they are not the worth the drive from Bethlehem and I would rather pad the pockets of a beer store that respects is customers.

This place has an excellent selection of beer, probably the best I have seen in the area. I live about 30 minutes away from Emmaus, but I go there regularly just because of the selection. The few times I have asked questions, the staff has been very helpful. I just wish I lived closer.

HUGE selection of beers, reportedly over 4,000 but that must include the warehouse.
Hard to find beers are usually available and the people are nice.
Got to go with an idea of what you are looking for otherwise you will be overwhelmed.

Only wish they could ship.

Absolutely wonderful distributor for a craft beer consumer- the only downside to this place is that they are a little bit unorganized. They have many cases of seemingly random beer stacked along the outside walls but it is definitely worth going to if you are in the Allentown area.

This place rocks! I can go there any time I wish...love it! great selection of beer with friendly, knowledgable staff. They have such a variety of beer from all over the planet. Just a great place for any beer snob to pick up there favorite brews. The prices are reasonable which makes this place even better.

Bottom line-Great!

"Beer Heaven" so says the sign upon entering and I don't disagree. Simply put - Shangy's is the place to go if you like beer.

So what's to say about this place that hasn't been already? Nothing. They have a great selection at reasonable prices. And by "great" - I really mean to say "magnificent."

The best part about Shangy's to me, though, is the staff. They are patient, helpful, and (most importantly) un-intimidating. This place isn't exclusively for the know it all beer-gurus. You don't need to walk in already knowing what you want. I just list some flavors I'd like in a beer to the staff - or browse until inspired.

Just went there the first time earlier this week to pickup a case of hopslam. The employee's I talked to were both very nice and their selection is great! The guy that went back to get me a case of hopslam looked like he made the trip a lot but was still very nice about it!

Their stock was really well organized and it has a better selection than any other distributor in SE PA that I have been to.

Its about an hour away from me but I will make the trip again in the near future for sure. Thanks for the great experience!

I have been to Shangy's twice now and am planning another trip for this weekend. This place is amazing! I will not shop for craft beer by the case anywhere else. They have the best prices, most knowlegeable staff, and an outstanding selection including alot of rare or hard to find brews. Plenty of variety cases also if you just cant decide on one single case of beer. They also have place reviews out of certain beers, giving you their review of certain beers. If in the area I would strongly suggest making the trip.

This is the second time I've been in Emmaus, PA in two years....I'm from Michigan. To sum it up, this place is amazing. There must be a thousand selections to choose from. When I've visited Emmaus, I've gone to Shangy's at least three times each visit. Store is large and clean. Beer cases are neatly stacked and are reasonably arranged in logical categories. Workers are friendly. If they don't know what I'm asking for, they immediately "bubble it up" to someone who does know. The owner is obviously most knowledgeable and has been there about half the time. I would have given a higher "service" rating if they had wifi available, but they don't (to look up Beer Advocate ratings....LOL). When I saw the Beer Advocate overall store rating, I concurred....this is the best beer store I've ever been in!

This place is AWESOME...well, MOSTLY!

I have been going here for YEARS...used to make the drive for over an hour, but now work and live nearby, so even better.

When you walk in, the "ANGELS SING" as you see the "Welcome to Beer Heaven" sign. Cool! It is clean and has the MOST variety of cases you will see just about anywhere! And the prices can't be beat! They have just about EVERYTHING! Rogue, Anchor, Uinta, Bell's, Southern Tier,21st Amendment, Chimay, and ...STOP ME NOW!

Now, as for the Service- this is where it can get "sketchy"! There are a lot of guys on the floor who are all very willing to help and are friendly without being overbearing. They all work hard and are always restocking the beer as fast as it goes out.

As for the cashiers, just watch out for the lady linebacker. She really knows her stuff (beers, prices, etc) but she will LOUDLY tell you and everyone else that you are WRONG about.. well, everything. In this economy especially, I think that people in any customer service area can’t blame customers or make excuses,.. even if they are busy. I KNOW it is busy there but many times she just barks your price at you and wants the line "gone". If you ask where something is, be prepared to listen CLOSELY. "centeraisledowntotheleftbythebackwall"
It all comes out as one word and you BETTER know what center aisle she means, because if not, well forget it!

But like I said, she REALLY does know her stuff- There is another young girl who has been there awhile and she is friendly and also knows a LOT. The last time I went in (about 2 weeks ago) there was a new lady (?) working with the "linebacker" who was very friendly and was smiling and helpful. Maybe she's there to help tone down the other one? If so, good call.

Summing it up, I would and DO tell everyone to go there if you are really into beer. The Holidays are coming and if Santa reads this, All I want for Christmas is a Shangy's GC!

All I can say is WOW. Showroom is huge and very well lit. I really liked how everything was organized. Easy to walk the aisles and browse the huge selection. Since it is PA you are stuck buying a full case but the selection did not disappoint. Lots of variety cases to choose from if you can’t make up your mind. All the PA craft brewers were represented (Troegs, Lancaster, Yards, Stoudts, Victory, etc). A large variety of imports too. The place is really easy to get to off of I-78 in Emmaus. I will definitely visit again and recommend to anyone making the trip up/down I-78 thru Allentown. Almost all of the cases were marked with prices which was really nice. I also really liked the Shangy’s tasting notes placed around for certain beers so you could get their opinion on some of the brews.

A: It's a warehouse - but it's a BEER warehouse!

Q: This may be the only bad thing I can say about the place, but I have noticed some pretty old cases of beer laying around. I never bought anything skunky, but I have seen numerous beers with production dates on them that are over a year (and in some cases closer to two years) old. They need to clean out the dusty beer more often - this is especially annoying when you are paying $60, $70, $80 or more for a case of craft beer.

S: Cashiers are what they are, the floor guys are generally helpful. Sometimes the old man can get a bit cranky with customers.

S: No better selection in the Lehigh Valley!!!

F: They have munchies, but also carry gourmet nuts and neat stuff like designer hot sauces.

V: Almost always have the lowest price in the Lehigh Valley for craft beer. I have comparison shopped many times and found Shangy's to be consistently lower by up to 10%.

After only my second time in this place it is certainly worthy of a review. (Was after the first time actually).

If you live in Eastern PA, I don't know of a better place to get cases, thanks to our great laws.... But seriously, you walk into a sign that says "welcome to beer heaven", and it is. There are cases lined along the walls of the store, stacked snug together and well organized. There's also a bunch of rows throughout the middle of the store as well. The store seems to always be clean and well kept. Theres a small room in the left corner as you walk in for some cold cases and kegs. Theres also what appears to be a massive storage room through double doors straight ahead but I don't know if customers are allowed in there.

The selection here is unmatched by anyone in the area as far as cases go. They carried Lost Abbey, vertical's from Stone, multiple of Weihenstephaners brews, Great Divide, all the ones in PA, all the big names from Belgium that you can get in the states at least. Hell they even had a CASE of Old Stock Reserve from North Coast for the love of God! Both times I've been there I'm asked if I need help multiple times. Well truth is yea, I do cuz my jaw hits the floor each time, and I have no idea WTF I'm gonna end up getting. All I know is that I won't be let down. Last visit I went with a case of Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale, and Great Divide Hibernation Ale. Two brews I would never find at my local places, all for about 80$. If you wan't quality, its worth the drive. If you live in the area, more power to you. This place is a gem.

I had first heard about Shangy's from a friend of mine that I worked with a few years ago. I had started talking about beers with him and found out that he was similar to me when it came to styles and tastes in beer. We had talked about something one time and he said that he'd have to call Shangy's and see if they had it. Sure enough they did and he picked up a case that night. There were several times that this happened and if they didn't have it then, they would order it for him. After seeing the pattern of success he had there I said to myself I need to check this place out.

I went for the first time right before my college graduation party to pick up some Magic Hat #9, Moosehead and a case of Guinness. I know I can get them anywhere but I wanted to look around as well. The place is stacked with beer from wall to wall. Domestic to the left of the entry and imports to the right. Just about everything a beer lover could want is there. I've picked up several different things there from Woodchuck Pear Cider to Bell's HopSlam and Southern Tier's Pumking. The selection is very impressive to me. They even had a few single bottles for sale near the register which is pretty cool.

I've had some great service there and some odd service over the last year or more that I've been going there. Most of the time the guys stocking the shelves are very willing to help and they check in the back for stuff. One time I asked about a beer from Australia called the Knappstein Reserve Lager and the guy tried offering me other stuff from New Zealand. I wasn't looking for anything but that beer and he insisted that it was basically the same thing... I left a little annoyed because he almost made me feel like I was unsure of what I was talking about. The people at the registers are hit or miss. Sometimes they've got a really nice younger girl behind the counter who was willing to take part in small talk as I checked out. Then on the other hand you have some who scan the barcode and take your money. I suppose it depends on the person and how busy they are.

All in all though, the place is a wonderland of beer in the Lehigh Valley area. It's been impressive every time I go there. I haven't seen anything like it to this day.
