Billed by the brewer as an Irish-American Stout at 6% abv.
Poured into a becker from the growler.
Syrupy, opaque black in color beneath a dense, inch-high chocolate-colored foam. Patches of spotted lacing.
Milk and dark chocolate with hints of robust espresso. Heavy, fresh cream with a lingering peat-smoked aroma.
Peat smoked malt with licorice, saffron, and ginger spices. An airy, milk chocolate, mocha: the malt profile certainly fits the Dry Irish Stout category. Notes of plum, dark cherry, grape, apple. The hop presence is brief but adds a fresh bite and is swarmed by the smokey quality.
A full, medium bodied; a bit syrupy but with a brief roughness. A nice balance for an Irish-American hybrid of sorts.
Full flavors and a nice balance. A pleasant blend of Irish and American Stout flavors. Another solid offering from Cody Brewing...am I the only one in on the secret?
