22 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance: The beer poured a one finger head. A dark brown color with signs of carbonation coming up the side of the glass. Head has reduced a thin layer and left some lacing on the side of the glass.

Smell: Oatmeal and sweet maltiness. A little bready amd sweet chocolate.

Taste: Malty sweetness, chococalte, some bready malts too.

Mouthfeel: medium to high carbonation, medium bodied, a little smooth and creamy, and a little watery.

Overall: Not anothe brew from Cody. Beer could a little more smoother and not as watery, but still very drinkable. Happy to see that their beers are back on the shelves in stores.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a snifter. Purchased (for 1.99!) at Yankee Spirits in MA.

A- Pours a muddy brown body with an off-white fluffy white head that reduces to a layer of foam and leaves some leggy lacing.

S- Very slight nutty, toffee, bready, and caramel notes.

T- Tastes slightly raw with notes of toffee, light coffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, yeast, and light malt.

M- Light and smooth, easy going down. Medium-low carbonation.

Overall a decent brown ale. Definitely a bargain at 1.99. Subtle tastes for a mellow style.

22oz bottle purchased as a single from somewhere localish.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 3/4" tan head over the clear coppery amber brew. Head bubbles away gradually, with average lacing. Aroma is light to moderate maltiness.

Taste is nutty upfront, worty through the middle, and comes on balanced through the close. Mouthfeel is smooth, and drinkability is good. Nice first brew for me from Cody.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a mug glass.

A: The beer is a medium brown color, with a very large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains maple, caramelized malts, some fruit and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of maple, caramel and toffee that are quickly followed by a hearty malt character. The hops presence is very mild but brings some balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, it’s a solid beer but there are others in the style that I would choose first.

Poured into a pint glass--Had on tap at New World Tavern Plymouth

Appearance: dark brown in color, 1/4 inch head, clear, moderate carbonation

Smell: light toasted malt--not overly strong

Taste: light chocolate, light caramel, leather, and oats as it warms

Mouthfeel: medium bodied, moderate-high carbonation, sweet with a light bitter backbone

Overall: To me this is an average brown ale with a touch of oatmeal that differentiates it a bit from the pack. Not a bad beer and one to sip pleasantly, but nothing I would go out of my way for.

Wheelers Brown pours a hazy dark brown, with a creamy off white head on top. The foam dissolves slowly to a thick sheet on the surface leaving behind a netted pattern of lace on the glass.

The aroma is a bit subdued with notes of caramel malt, brown sugar and bread. A slight nuttiness is also present.

Each sip of this medium bodied beer is very smooth and creamy, with mild carbonation. The flavor is sweet and malty. Toasted malt and some chocolate are balanced with bready yeast notes and an earthy nuttiness. It finishes mildly bitter with lingering chocolate sweetness when gone.

This is a very tasty, easy drinking beer with a great mouthfeel. Even though it's almost 6%$ abv it reminds me of a session beer.

This is a well balanced brown ale. Bought fresh at the brewery. The mouthfeel is excellent. The oatmeal works well. There are enough IBU's here to balance the sweetness of the malt. Appearance is brown (duh) and cloudy, unfiltered. This is a really enjoyable local brew.

Pours a nice creamy bubbly 1 finger head that fades slowly with a nice lacing over semi hazy cola brownish slight mahogany color beer.

nose starts with nice juicy brown malts in a little bit of toasty caramel, hint of molasses, light oats and a bit of caramelized brown sugar, and slight hints of floral hops.

Taste starts mildly sweet, again lots of brown malts, sweetener flavors without the heavy sweetness, caramel, toasted malts, hint of maple syrup and some toffee, molasses and brown sugar, light creamy oats, and a hint of a darker roasty malt that I can't label. Light hops add a decent bitterness and light floral earthy hop flavors. As it finishes a bit more bitterness and earthy flavors and hint of a roasty salty quality, more caramel and brown malt flavors, mildly sweet still doesn't dry as much as I expected, and hints of mild earthy hops lingering.

mouth is medium to slightly richer bodied with good carbonation.

overall a pretty nice beer, nice brown malts, caramel and sweeteners, a decent hop kick with a touch of bitterness and roasty salty like flavor hinting to I heavier roasted malt, and nice touch of oats to give a bit of body. Very easy drinking and sessionable, smooth and tasty.

A - Pours a dark brown with ruby edging. Slight tan head gives way to webby lacing.

S - Dark, roasted malt. Vanilla.

T - Roasted malts. Chocolate (but not exactly chocolate malt). Vanilla. Hint of coffee throughout. Minor Cascade hops in the finish.

M - Medium.

O - This is a good American Brown. Due to the oatmeal certain elements remind me of Ipswich oatmeal Stout; which comes at no surprise since Cody is brewed at Mercury Brewing which also makes Ipswich.

Batch 4. 5.5% ABV, 27 IBU label on it.

A: A nice mahogany brown pour with a decent tan head. Retention is decent, as is the lacing.

S: Heavy toffee aroma (almost bourbony) with what I swear is very ripe banana (once it warms it becomes more like oatmeal) There is a caramelized brown sugar smell too.

T: Lots of toffee up front. Oatmeal in the middle and then there is some bitter roast/cocoa in the end. Getting some black licorice/anise sometimes. It sounds good when I write it but the flavors don't really work together or meld well.

M: A bit thin, but not horribly so. No bitterness.

O: Honestly the concept of this beer sounds really good but the execution falls a bit flat. It's missing a some normal brown ale elements and replaces them with flavors that just don't work. I like oatmeal stouts and porters but in a brown ale it just doesn't seem to work. Not a bad beer but just falls short.

From an undated 22oz bottle, label different than the one shown.

Pours an amber color with reddish hues, looks more like a red ale than anything else, not much of a head and what there is fades fast, no lacing on the glass.

Smell is primarily caramel malt, possibly a touch of chocolate in the nose but you'll have to dig for it.

Taste is fairly one note with the caramel malt taking the majority of the flavor profile, a light chocolate character in the aftertaste, finishes dry, soft but amble carbonation, the oatmeal they added does add a creamier than expect mouthfeel.
