Appearance- Dark brown with a dense tan head floating on top.
Smell- Slight smoke, hint of caramel, nutty yeast.
Taste- Caramel sweetness with a toasted malt body. Smoke is fairly light and doesn't hang around long. Dry nuttiness towards the middle. Mild coffee flavors in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel- Medium body with very low carbonation. Has a creamy texture.
Overall- A solid porter, recommended.

A: A blackish-brown body with a creamy tan head. Nice head retention and lacing.
S: Strong smokey aroma with a chocolate & caramel malt backbone.
T: Strong smokey flavor upfront followed by chocolate & roasted malts. Caramel sweetness cuts the smoke and ends slightly bitter.
M: Although slightly creamy, this one has a watery texture- very thin mouthfeel. Medium-light body and light carbonation.
O: I have had some smoked porters before, but this one was, to me, unbalanced. The smoke flavor was overwhelming and the mouthfeel was off. I don't think I would buy this for myself again.

A - Served a dark black color with a finger of super creamy tan head. The retention on the head was very good and left behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma has some nice smoky notes with some sweet caramel/chocolate malts. Bit subtle and could have used a bit more punch.
T - Starts off with sweet roasted caramel malts and just a hint of smoke. The smoke flavor builds a bit through the middle and some chocolate malt flavors blends in. The finish is a mix of the malt flavors and some smoke that lingers.
M - Medium bodied with moderate-low amount of carbonation. Feels really smooth and creamy and the finish really fills the mouth.
D - Very drinkable. Was expecting a bit more of a flavor punch from a smoked porter, but what was there was fairly good. The mouthfeel was very nice.

Poured opaque black with a mohogany hue and a creamy ecru 1-finger head.
Smell is faint, but whats there is malty, chocolatey, and none-too smokey.
Taste is of toasted chocloate and caramel malts and barley. Slightly mossy, earthy taste and a touch of smoke on the finish. The smoke flavor lingers in the mouth and keeps you coming back for more.
Mouthfeel is like all Davidson beers: creamy. There is a touch of mineral dryness on the swallow, and a thinner feel than one would expect from a porter.
Drinkability is high due to the middling nature of the flavor profile. It is a fairly good porter to enjoy on a nice snowy day.

Off the tap this beer was a dark garnet color with a thin tan head. The retention was weak as a collar and the lacing not much better. The aroma was of chocolate malt, caramel malt and hints of toasted malt. The flavors were sweet for a porter, especially a smoked porter. Chocolate and caramel malt with a little hop bitterness for balance. The 'smoke' was so subtle I hardly thought it with including in the name. The mouthfeel was watery, the body medium/light and the carbonation medium. Too sweet, too light and no smoke to speak of; not a good example of the style.

Thanks go to Kegatron for sharing this one.
Poured a clear dark brown with red hues in the light. Two fingers of foamy off-white head has average retention and leaves some good lacing. Smells of toasted malts, chocolate, caramel, with the faintest touch of smoke. Tastes of lightly roasted malts, caramel, and cocoa powder with a lot of chalkiness. Finishes with a touch of bittering hops and a remote hint of smoke, but hardly noticeable. Medium-light in body but good carbonation. Creamy and smooth, but also minerally and chalky with not much going on in the smoke department. Drinkable once you get past the chalkiness, but a pretty boring porter that left me wondering how much more we have to drink before the growler is done and we can move on to something else.

From a growler filled at the brewpub into a pint glass.
Pours a dark brown, with some ruby highlights shining through the body, and about 2 fingers of creamy off-white head. 1/2 finger of foamy yet solid retention leaves back some nice swathes of lacing. The aroma is rather light smelling with some roasted chocolate, caramel, just the slightest hints of smoked malts that weave in and out.
The taste is similar, with a chalky mix of chocolate and caramel, some firm hop character in the back, and just the tiniest amount of smoke that comes out most in the finish. Speaking of the finish, I'm also getting a mineral like feel back there that isn't helping the profile much. The mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with a lower but still fairly creamy feeling carbonation.
Meh. This was a pretty average at best Smoked Porter that just didn't pack enough flavor to keep me interested for long. I'm glad that I had a buddy to split the growler with.

This beer is not retired, as I had a growler filled at the Davidson Brothers brewpub friday December 26th.
The beer is alive and kicking. A subtely smoked Porter - the appearance was that of a stout, dark and a creamy two finger head. Great lacing and decent retention as well. The smell again was subtle, malty and that smokey aroma.
This is one of the tastiest beers I have had, I was not sure how the smoke would sit with my taste buds - it was wonderful.
Medium body and good drinkability. One of my favorite beers yet!

this beer pours a very nice dark brown with red highlights. the creamy tan head just doesn't want to go away. the aroma is a little on the low side with a bit of smoke and malt. the taste is a little better with the smoke not quite drowning out the chocolate malt and hops. the beer had a light body and a decent level of carbonation... definitely an easy drink.

The beer pours a dark brown/black color with a thick frothy tan head that fades to lacing. The aroma is outstanding. It has a rich dark malt scent that boasts of roasted and smoked malts; very pleasant. The taste is good. It has a creamy dark malt flavor with some chocolate and patent malts. It goes down smooth and finishes with a slight smokey aftertaste. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a damn fine beer. It's full of aroma and good flavor; a good sessions ale.

Mahogany hue with off-white head.
Smoke was alarmingly not present in the aroma. That wasn't right at all. The flavor is of a nicely smoked character, nothing out of place: smoke, meaty, scotch peat characteristics. Thin mouthfeel: I would have expected a rounder or oilier feel.
Not bad, but in no way exemplary. Thanks to Danny H. for the sample.
