A: Black body with a dense tan head. Great lacing.

S: Strong aroma of roasted coffee & dark chocolate malts. Getting some smoke which is weird.

T: A faint roasted malt upfront with notes of dark chocolate and coffee. Slight oat flavor that is cut by a subtle smokey taste. Finishes slightly bitter.

M: Extremely thin for the style. Watery texture, medium body, light carbonation.

O: I love oatmeal stouts, but this one was just off. I think if the mouthfeel was a bit more chewy and the taste didn't have a smokey flavor, I may have rated this higher. I probably would try this again in the future because I love the style, but I would be nervous to down another watery stout.

Everything about this beer I had at Amity Hall on nitro tap was average. It's definitely not bad. It's also not terribly impressive. Just another local.

Like the Murphy's I had night, this is just one of those slightly malty dark in appearance light in impact brews that passes in the tongue intended for drinkability and not much else.

I can't knock them for that. Except I was drinking for taste. It's well composed but totally watery. No hops, the malt character isn't pronounced, and it's meager head even on nitro tap is just like... Meh.

Meh.

barcade in brooklyn on tap.

a. almost black, but closer to brown, looks light. not much head to report on. laces a little.

s. oaty woodsy smell. very coffee. wish it was stronger.

t. almost tastses like guiness. disappointed, but it has really nice coffee and dark chocolate after tones and an oaty finish that really improves on the beer's impression.

m. average. low carbonation, but very light for a stout. thus the 2.5

d. easy to drink, but not real enjoyable. but a good effot on the oatmeal stout from this upstate new york brewery.

Off the tap this beer was a very dark, root beer-like brown color. The one-finger, tan head displayed good retention, leaving lacing in sheets at first and then in bands. The aroma was of dry roasted malt, light coffee and hints of soil. The flavors were similar but generally a little pale. I tasted cocoa, roasted malt, light coffee and a mild tartness from the hops. The oatmeal made the beer dry and surprisingly crisp. The mouthfeel was watery, the body full/medium-full and the carbonation light. Decent but it lacked depth and weight for the style.

This beer i thought to be substantially better looking than tasting. It poured beautifully, with a nice thick head. The head held through the entire pint, with excellent lacing. Strong coffee aroma strikes the nose immediately, and is very much present in the taste. It hits you particularly in the back of the mouth. I found this to be not as smooth as most other oatmeal stouts. There was substantial bitterness from the malts, not hops, which left a slightly unpleasant aftertaste. This lowered the drinkability score.
All in all a nice beer.

A: The beer is very dark brown in color. It poured with a finger high creamy tan head that has good retention properties and consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: There are light aromas of roasted malts in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and also has some notes of chocolate and coffee in the flavors.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied, creamy and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer is very easy to drink because it’s not as filling compared to other beers in the style. I could easily have a few of these in one sitting, as the low alcohol content makes it sessionable.

Good at what it is: an honest rendition of the style without defaults nor stand outs. Fairly mild, but still packing a decent roastiness like burnt chocolate, an almost black body, the typical nitro appearance and obvious oats while having a creamy medium body. Lovers of the style will certainly appreciate this.

The beer pours a deep dark black color with a thick frothy tan head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a dry dark malt scent with some chocolate malts present along with some patent malts as well. It has a bit of a grainy aroma from the oatmeal. The taste is good. It has a thin yet malty feel with a dry grainy aftertaste. I attribute this to the use of oatmeal in the mash. It goes down easy and finishes a bit watery, but with a solid malty taste. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium/full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a fine oatmeal stout. I always think that they are going to be much heavier than they are. Nonetheless, this is a good drinker.

Poured a black hue with a two finger creamy off-white head. There was very good retention and excellent lacing.

The smell featured a roasted malt, coffee and some sulfur.

The taste consisted of a roasted, burnt grain; dark chocolare; coffee and crystal malt.

The mouthfeel was of average fullness with an astringency at the finish.

Overall a good and quaffable stout.

Made my first stop (with many more to come) at Davidson Brothers Restaurant & Brewery today for lunch and a few beers. I really enjoyed this Oatmeal Stout!!!

A - Reminded me exactly of a Guinness from the appearance, dark black with a 2 finger head and excellent lacing

S - Nice roasted smell, malts and chocolate come to mind.

T - This was a great tasting beer, exactly what I expected from a Stout, good balance.

M - From the thick foamy head, to the roasted flavor of the beer, this again reminded me of a Guinness

D - Smooth, flavorful, and I could see having a few of these every time I go. My biggest issue will be trying the other beers, because when I go back, I am going to want an Oatmeal Stout!

Got a 20oz pint at Drop Off Service in the East Village. It appeared pitch black with a thick tan head. This is a rich and creamy oatmeal stout, but not too heavy. It's got that great toasty, cookie-like roast of a good oatmeal stout. The finish had a pleasant dry bitterness with a little cocoa. This is a tasty beer, definitely worth a second pint.

Poured in a pint glass. Looks just like a guinesse, a little heavier in body. Not quite as airy in the glass. The beer sits a little heavier, obvisouly cooked in an open kettle, it sits heavy in the glass. A tan fizz holding lots of roasted oat smell. Creamy oat texture in the beer as well. Finished with some coffee chocolate bitterness. Body is light with a creamy finish. Overall:Dangerously sessionable stout at 4.5%.

This beer poured with a very nice and lasting half inch head and dark coloring. Coffee was the dominant taste and smell for me with moderate level of chocolate and some roasted malt flavor. I did not find this beer bitter at all. Very smooth not at all creamy mouthfeel. Very easy to drink and well worth my visit to the Davidson Bros. Brewpub.
