Notes/Commercial Description:

Bottle: Poured a light yellow with white haze ale with a medium size pure white foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of wheat with light bready yeast ester and some coriander. Taste is a nice mix between some thin wheat malt and some coriander and orange peel notes with solid ester form the yeast and a light tart finish. Body is definitely a bit thin but carbonation is good. Not a good staple of the style but I still quite enjoyed that one.

5oz on-tap degustation glass directly at A La Fût brewery in Saint-Tite

A - Bright yellow gold color, with a small white head, bit cloudy but not as a belgian witbier

S - Mild pale malt nose, Honey, sweet corn note, hint of wheaty and citrus fruity in the aroma

T - With a zesty, wheaty character with a faint of light flowery hop, acidic hint in finish

MF - Light-bodied palate, a bit watery

D - I don't have the feeling that I'm drinking a witbier, not really in the style, a good beer althought

A: Light in color with a mild haze to it. Two fingers of head that retained itself for a bit and left behind small touches of lacing.

S: I get a lot of clove. Smells almost more similar to a Hefe. Clove character is really overdone IMO.

T: Oh my god the clove flavor is strong. It tastes something like an overly phenolly hefe. I don't get the coriander or slight tinge of bitter curacao of a traditional Wit, instead I am overwhelmed with clove. A bit of banana begins to appear as the beer warms slightly. Slight malty sweetness.

M: Crisp and refreshing. Appropriate body for the style along with carbonation.

O: Not really my deal. I still like the brewery a lot but this was really a bad example of the style with overdone clove, no real apparent spice character. It tastes more like an awkward overly phenolic saison/hefe hybrid. Not awful but not worth the money and I wouldn't care to have another.
