A brew made with "local honey, pumpkins, Michigan parsnips, Indian corn, cloves and nutmeg! WOW! I am a sucker for taking things to new levels....lets see how it works out.
A-Slightly hazy golden yellow with a thin white head that reduced to a thin ring and left spotty lace.
S-Sweet malt and honey notes with a nice spicy combo from the clove, nutmeg and cinnamon.
T-Clove and nutmeg dominate the initial flavours with the cinnamon registering in the background. Pumpkin meat and corn breadiness helps support the spices nicely. Sweet honey in the finish adds a masterful ending....like icing on the cake!
M-Medium body with good lasting spice flavours and a slightly dry finish.
D- A most unique and well done brew. It all comes together very well. I am impressed with the brewers ability to combine such interesting ingredients into such a cohesive and complimentary brew. One of the top Right Brain brews that we had.

On tap at Right Brain Brewery on 11/29/08. I listed this as a pumpkin ale because their beer menu descibed this an a Colonial Ale brewed with "local honey, pumpkins, Michigan parsnips, Indian corn, cloves and nutneg." Interesting indeed!
A - Poured a hazy golden wheat-colored body with a slim white head that receded into a patchy film and left nice even lacing around the glass.
S - Spicy and sweet with clove, nutmeg and cinnamon notes. There is also a mild honey sweetness and a subtle hint of pumpkin meat.
T - Initial flavor is a tingly blend of clove and nutmeg spices with a touch of cinnamon sweetness. There is just a bit of bitterness in the backend. While the spices are definitely at the forefront, the pumpkin and corn flavors really shine in the finish. The addition of sweet honey bonds everything together cohesively.
M - Medium body with moderate carbonation and a watery, light syrupy texture. This ale is pretty spicy on the palate overall, while the finish is slightly dry with minimal bitterness.
D - This is a really unique and well-balanced ale that drinks much like a pumpkin ale, but with an interesting twist. My favorite of all the Right Brain selections I had during my visit.
