Had on-tap at Terry's Terrace in Harrison Township, Michigan for $6.95 a pint.

Appearance: Pitch black. Tan and frothy head... boy is the appearance section of reviews getting redundant... especially for stouts! The lacing is what really makes this beer, though... basically a wall of lacing through the majority of the beer. Above average.

Smell: Espresso/coffee. Through and through. That's really it. Roasty coffee and espresso... what else should I say? One dimensional, but it's what I expected given the beer's description, and it didn't disappoint.

Taste: Espresso/coffee. The oatmeal in this beer adds a silkiness to the mouthfeel, too. Man... this is an easy drinking, tasty beer. Good or bad, whatever you'd consider it, this drinks like a cold, black cup of coffee. A really delicious coffee-forward stout that goes down easy and is very enjoyable.

My first from Right Brain, and it won't be my last. I'm sure my minor buzz has something to do with my elevated ratings for this beer, but dammit, I don't think it'd be much, if any, different if I were completely sober. A stout for the coffee/espresso fan, without a doubt.

650 mL bottle poured into a tumbler.

Appearance - Mostly black. Some head. Not a lot. No wisps or lace.

Smell - Lots of coffee. Dominates the aroma. A little vanilla. Just a hint of beer back there.

Taste - Again the coffee dominates. Vanilla. Really strong coffee. Weak stout behind it. Just a bit of distinct malt roast.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Medium carbonation. Easy drinking stout.

Overall - Great coffee and mediocre beer. Great coffee really redeems it though.

A-Pours a very dark brown, not quite black. Copper Brown head, heavy and thick.
S- Dark coffee smell, almost more of an espresso than a coffee really. Chocolate and vanilla on the back. Malty, as well.
T- Chocolate coffee flavor initial. There is a decent malt there, but it blends well with the other flavors. Dark roasty flavor lingers throughout the drink.
M- Mid-to-full bodied. Very good on the mouth, and easy to drink.

Overall a decent coffee stout. I personally like a more abrasive coffee flavor, but this isn't bed. Nice and smooth. A good coffee beer for someone looking for a less intense coffee flavor.

22 oz. bottle poured into my Samuel Smith Imperial Pint

A- A normal pour creates a 1-1/2 finger, dense, brown head atop a near jet body. Sustain is quite good and there's great stick left on the glass.

S- Loads of coffee. A little chocolate and other sugary sweetness. I'm thinking something along a Mack Fudge coffee with a single cream and a packet of Sugar in the Raw. The coffee gets even bolder with a little time to open up and warm slightly.

T- A little sweeter than the aroma lets on. Stills loads of medium-dark roast coffee and hints of chocolate and vanilla, especially in the finish.

M- Full bodied and quite viscus. Creamy carbonation. Really nice feel.

O- Awesome coffee stout. I would definitely buy this again. At a $6.99 for the 22, it's not too far off the better 12 oz'ers in a 4 or 6- pack. I really enjoy how robust the flavor is while clocking in at a modest 5.5% ABV.
