Barely there aroma and dirty brown pour with a balanced taste and minimal aftertaste.

Brewer Note: In the Summer of 2012, Right Brain Brewery moved into its new location. Unfortunately, what was intended to be a quick changeover turned out to be a ninety day down time. Many doubters and detractors counted us out, but from the ashes and dust (literally) arose a newly strengthened beer phoenix with a steel heart, grains for wings, and hops for eyeballs.

To commemorate what was essentially the re-birth of Right Brain Brewery, we offer you The Second Coming Double IPA, because everyone deserves a second chance.

Extremely hop-forward with a focus on citrus and grapefruit notes, The Second Coming has minimal bitterness and a lingering floral finish. Become one with the universe and immerse yourself in the rebirth of hops.

My first experience with this brewery. Pours a beautiful copper red color with a small tan head that dissipates quickly to a nice lacing. The nose on this ale is pleasant with notes of pine, mango, and grapefruit. It Sips very smooth and light with little coating. It tastes very malty for a double ipa. The flavor is bitter at first and very dry on the finish. Definite alcohol bite and taste but is well offset by the bitterness and the sugars of the malt. Not a lot of hoppy citrus notes considering the style of beer. Overall, this is a solid entry in the world of imperial ipas and a very enjoyable ale, but it probably won't be one that I will return to again.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/4/2013. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy deep orange amber color with a 1-2 finger dense cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, peach, mango, pineapple, orange/lemon zest, floral, grass, caramel, toffee, bread, pine, and floral earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity of citrus/tropical hops and balanced malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, orange/lemon zest, orange rind, pine, floral, grass, caramel, toffee, toast, and floral earthiness. Moderate amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange zest, orange rind, pine, floral, grass, caramel, toast, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good complexity of citrus/tropical hop flavors; with a balanced malt backbone and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this was a good DIPA. Good complexity of citrus/tropical hops and balanced caramel/bready malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. An enjoyable offering.
