Notes/Commercial Description:
This medium to full-bodied beer, pale to amber in color, is most accurately described as a Bavarian wheat beer. The aroma and flavor of this unfiltered beer is decidedly fruity and phenolic — a big word for a brew that tastes like cloves, nutmeg or sometimes vanilla with banana-like esters.

quite good hefeweizen, a little different from what i am used to in american made takes on the classic german style. this one is a little paler in color, washed out a little from the usual radiant straw color, and its head is a little less vigorous. the nose is similar, light banana cream yeast character, very pie-like, desserty in some dinner somewhere that still does it old school. wheat malt is extremely light here, lacking the frothy feel and filling nature the style often presents, its all about those esters from the yeast, and all day drinkability. l really like the flavor profile, but wish for maybe a little more body to stretch it out a bit, and perhaps a little less carbonation. i never say that, but this one is all jazzed up, and fizzes away too quickly for me to taste it as long as i want to. my first non-special release from nebraska brewing and its a good one. my girlfriend liked its lightness quite a bit, but i though a little more malt heft would add another layer. nevertheless, great take on it.

Bought these cans on a day heading to the track in Saratoga, NY. I usually stay away from cans because I think it effects the taste, but this was a great can of beer. After getting home I poured it into a glass and it was very better. Great hefeweizen, with a nice strong flavor and good hang time.

12 oz can poured hazy golden-amber with a towering, foamy, bone-colored head. Very good retention and lacing.

Aroma: ripe banana, clove, apricot, Spicy.

Flavor: banana; light spicing; light baked bread; apricots; Spent grain in the aftertaste. Slightly bitter.

Feel: Medium body with soft but high carbonation.

Hazy wheat hue unfiltered 100%, beige head fine speckled lacing. Aroma big over ripened banana notes with clove and vanilla exploding on the senses. Flavor has bubblegum sweetness, clove and vanilla, a hint of citrus and malted wheat notes. Big over ripened banana pushes it into the realm of almost cloying, which doesn't settle well with me considering a can of Nebraska Brewing Eos hefeweizen cans in the Burgh will run you around 40 bucks plus tax. Needless to say there's many better PA brewed versions including Yuengling Summer wheat, the mouthfeel on this has some sturdy carbonation big malt layers, sharp wheat/citrus some balance but the yeast phenolics here are out of control with the ripe banana, vanilla, clove notes making it a bit cloying for me. Overall, still easy to drink and a solid American version of a hefeweizen just nowhere near as good as the German versions or Pennsylvania Deutsch population that has carried on the tradition of great hefeweizen.
