An artful creation which began with our HopAnomaly Belgian-Style IPA, enhanced by a 6 month maturation in French Oak Chardonnay Barrels. This version of Hop God is a fascinating, big, bold Belgian-style Tripel hopped in very high amounts to concentrate citrus, grapefruit and floral aromatics in the nose. The addition of Chardonnay barrel aging adds further dimension and oak tannins to an already wonderfully complex Ale – bringing to mind tropical fruits and peach. We know of nothing that compares – enjoy!

Nose is a smidge oxidized, probably 5 years on this so apropos. Sweet, candied, clean. Bitter, sharp. Almost barley wine.

Taste does follow. Nice full mouthfeel. Sharp bit of bitterness throughout. Soft and sweet in the middle. Tidy finish of candy, brown sugar. Cascade. Malt.

Very nice, I have one more bottle, will drink it this year.

750ml bottle into a tulip. NO freshness dating.

Looks spectacular in the glass. Murky dull burnt orange body with a massive thick foamy off white head. Streams of carbonation replenish the head, leaving thick rings of lacing, impressive given the abv.

Not much on the nose though, a little musty fruit.

On tasting, you are hit with a spicy, peppery, hoppy bitterness. Then a wave of lightly fruit sweetness comes along, which is finally shoved aside by a dry bitterness. Loving this.

Mouth closing in on full, finish dry and bittersweet with a touch of oak.

Overall, hard to think of this as a Belgian IPA, but whatever it might be, it's certainly an interesting and tasty beer.

Orange and a slight haze with no carbonation, topped with four fingers of yellowish head.

It smells of peach pie with a hint of green leaf.

The taste is of citrus, peaches, with a very sweet and clingy flavour followed by estranged bitterness.

Thick and syrupy body with low carbonation. I purchased this in North Carolina, drinking in Redding California September 10, 2020.

Poured from a seven-fitty into a tulip...

The pour--oh holy hell, this is one fine and unique-looking beer. It pours a hazy, almost murky gold with a spectacular rocky and foamy head and sticky lacing. Superb.

The nose presents pretty complex symphony--citrusy hop notes, estery/fruity notes (white stone fruits), and just a hint of yeast and funk.

The palate is hit with some pretty serious hops, but that is balanced immediately by some excellent sweetness--peach, pear, and juicy citrus--with some nice vinous barrel and a hint of booze at the end. Tasty. Maybe a little more bitter than needed, but Tasty.

The mouthfeel is spectacular. Medium bodied--and "thicker" than you might expect--but with superb carbonation, lift and crisp finish. A hint of boozy warmth at the end. Very (dangerously) drinkable for the ABV.

I get edgy about over-hopping Belgian brews, and admittedly, this one is a shade hoppy for me--but that means it's probably darn near perfect. A must-try.

Draft pour to snifter, light haze, golden, decent white head with lacing. Nose carries wood, pear, orange, light funk. Taste brings forth a touch of wine but is wood dominant, hops then bring mild fruits and strong bitter finish. Medium body and below average carbonation.
