Awesome selection of craft beer available. You can find some stuff here that you wont find anywhere else in the immediate area. Staff and owner are very nice.

Great beer store- Chuck knows his shit and loves craft beer. He gets all of the best seasonal beers and the more hyped releases in addition to having a decent selection of bombers and some of the more common 6 packs.

His customer service is phenomenal- if you call ahead of time asking if he has a beer he will actually put the beer in the fridge for you so it's cold when you get there.

Excellent store.

I took an hour drive to from NY to PA check this place out and pick up some non-NY-distributed brews this morning.

Some things stood out:

Selection-Founder's, Bell's, Lost Abbey, Port Brewing, Duck Rabbit and Cigar City were all represented. Great selection, almost too much to pick from (not the worst thing).

Service-Chuck was very helpful. Made some suggestions, pointed out some rarities, and even found me a '07 Bigfoot from "the back".

Prices-They seemed to be right in line with what I'd pay at Wegmans in Dickson City. Can't ask for much more.

I will definitely be the trip once a month to see what I can pick up here. Next time I'll bring some growlers and check out what's on tap.

Jessup Beverage is an excellent bottle shop with the best prices in the area. Chuck is a great guy, and he will order anything for you that he doesn't have in stock. The Trappist beers are well represented and better priced than anywhere else in the area.
The bar has about 25 taps including some of the great local beers for less than any other place in the area. They also have a great selection of whiskeys and vodkas that are much less expensive than most other places.
I have quite a few nice bottle shops in my area, but I still make the 40 minute trip up there at least once a month because of the great value and rare beers.

While traveling in PA I sought this out as an A+ beer store and was seriously disappointed. The good - pretty good selection of 22s including Port Brewing and Lost Abbey which are hard to find on the east coast.
The bad - very few PA beers and a very small store. Prices were high, PA must have a high beer tax.
The ugly - This store is attached to a bar and the cigarette smoke was thick as pea soup.
A beer outlet down the street had a more impressive selection including Bells, Tommy Knocker and others although they did have to sell by the case.

Took a trip up there today. The people were very friendly and helpful, took the time to show me many different bottles they had. They had alot of IPAs which was nice. Pick up a Stone Cali-Belgie, and they had alot of other California 22oz. bottles. Overall their selection was good. They took a special order for me and the prices were affordable. I will go there again when Im looking for an obscure brew or even just to restock the fridge with my usuals and new stuff too.
If you live in or around Scranton/Jessup I highly recommend this place.

Jessup Beverage is my go-to bottle shop, I try to stop in at least once every other week. Selection is outstanding, a great mix of the favorites (DFH, Founders, Bells, Victory, Smuttynose, Stone, Rogue, Southern Tier, Troegs, Weyerbacher, etc) with some brews I would not expect to find...Lost Abbey for example, as well as some of the hard to find DFH's. Service is great...I spend as much time talking with the owner about beer as I do trying to decide what I want to buy (if ever there was a downside to a great selection, it's trying to narrow your purchase down...). I highly recommend stopping here if you can, there's something here for everybody.

Let me start off by saying that in my opinion JB is one of the prime beer stores in the state. If you are lucky enough to be passing by or live in the area be thankful, places like this are few and far between.

The selection for a store this size and in this area is something out of the ordinary. There are some really hard to find brews here and the prices are spectacular on everything. I had been quite loyal to a different local store, which I still frequent, but JB has more selection and way better prices.

Chuck is a good guy and he actually tries to locate what his customers are looking for. If Chuck can't locate or can't get in what you are looking for he'll be straight about it, no BS.

I've picked up so many great hauls at the Jessup Plaza. Not only do they always have everything you're looking for but they have it for a hell of a lot cheaper.

Very friendly staff and a bar on the side, just in case you feel like popping one or two open right on the spot.

This store might not even have actual walls and if they do, you'd never know because they are completely lined with beer.

I have a hard time driving past this store without stopping in for a serious haul. A must go-to for Beer Geeks!

When I go beer shopping I always go here first, they have the best prices for mixed 6ers and stock some rare 6packs that I cant find anywhere else. And they seem to have new beers arriving just about every week. Smuttynose, FlyingDog, Odells, Bell's, Bear Republic, Avery, Hoppin' Frog, just to name a few of the regular beers at hand. I havent made the trek to Goldstien's yet but from what ive observed around the Area, Jessup beverage and Perv's have it wrapped up.

The prices are good, the beers are better. They have the best prices in the area, plus not to mention one of the best selections of singles too.

The service cant be beat either, Chuck is always helpful and knowladgeable, and a great conversationist.

As long as Jessup beverage is around, there is no reason to go to Goldstein's for beer. The owner, Chuck, does a great job bringing in a very decent selection of craft and import beer. Brands that come to mind include - Bells, Founders, Hoppin' Frog, Bear Republic, Port Brewing/Lost Abbey, Smuttynose, Southern Tier, Troegs, DFH, Victory, etc. I guarantee you will find something to take home with you here. Most of the bottles have price tags on them and I've found the prices to be among the best around. I'll be making fewer trips to Capones and Jersey now that I've found Jessup Beverage. Another bonus is to ask Chuck to be put on his mailing list to recieve updates on new arrivals and pricing. A "must stop" if you are in the area.

Jessup's selection rivals any other bottle shop in NEPA except for Goldstein's, which definitely has more stuff, but unlike Goldstein's the majority of Jessup's stuff is in coolers and it seems to turn over very quickly. They pretty much have the full line of Stockertown domestic micros (stuff like Thomas Hooker, Founders, Bear Republic, Hoppin Frog, etc), and also stuff like Bell's, Avery, DFH, the typical PA stuff and much more. Decent selection of imports including some gems like Fantome Noel when I was just there. And as I said, everything seems to turn over quickly and nearly all of their selection resides in coolers, so I would be hard pressed to question the freshness and quality here.

The owner is very eager to help, so service is very good. Prices are very reasonable for PA, and on average I'd say Jessup is about 20% cheaper than Goldstein's for most beers. Price and selection also outdoes Purv's which is a short drive away. Prices are also clearly marked on just about everything, which for me is something I greatly appreciate from a beer store. All in all I would say that this has become the best bottle shop in NEPA. I'll certainly be taking the majority of my business here.

EDIT 2/23/10: I thought it necessary to modify this review because this place has really slipped lately. Their selection seems to stagnate, and while they do have some rarities, like a few rare Cantillon's for instance, they don't seem to get a lot of new releases and most times when I visit I leave disappointed with the selection. Still worth an occasional stop, but it's not what it was a year or 18 months ago.

I have stopped by this place a few times and I really enjoy it. The selection continues to grow. They carry; Founder's, Bear Republic, Hoppin' Frog, Boulder, Breckenrdige, Vicotry, Nogone, Lost Abbey, Fantome, Brooklyn and a whole host of other great beers. The nice part is, you can by single bottles to go. A rarity for Northeastern, PA.

The pricers are inexpensive. Bombers of Bear Republic cost me $4.75. $11.00 for a 4-pack of Founder's Backwoods Bastard.

One negative I forgot to add was the "Side Bar." The side bar is actually a full service bar attached to Jessup Beverage. The negative I have is they charge $1 extra to pick a beer from the beverage center and drink it in the "side bar."

The service has always been great with the staff eager to help.
