Stopped by this place on the way to a few other stores in Plano that I wanted to check out. I'd seen it on here but saw that it had changed owners and people seemed to think the quality of the place had gone down.

I had never been here before the owners changed, but man was this place a disappointment. Unorganized, cramped and dark. All the coolers were filled with swill like Shocktop and Bud Light, while the shelves were thinly stocked with some bombers, a few six packs and some four packs. Nothing was priced. I asked about the price of a four pack of Founder's Breakfast Stout and was told "$11.99, I think." You THINK? But then the labels in front of them on the shelves said "$10.99 SIx Pack Longnecks", though there were no six packs in sight of these labels. Incredibly confusing! As I was leaving the guy asked, "Are you going to get it?" NOPE, don't think so. Later I found the Breakfast stout refrigerated and at a slightly cheaper price.

While there was a decent selection of beers on the shelves all of them I had seen at cheaper prices at other locations, and often the other locations had them refrigerated. While it wasn't MUCH more expensive here I felt that the customer service and atmosphere of the place was lacking enough that it wasn't worth giving the place my money.

Steer clear.

This place is a MESS. Completely unorganized and the guy behind the counter took a used car salesman approach to my purchase. This place feels like a dirty gas station. Decent selection, but the prices are significantly higher than any store in the Dallas area. Not a place where I would like to return.

Place changed owners 6 months ago. New owner promptly lost 2 solid beer guys (Mar and Stephen) and the wine lady (Susan). Say this only because reviews older than Dec 2012 are for a totally different place.

They used to do tasting every week (sometimes twice a week) where Mar and Stephen would pick random unique beers to introduce people to. The new owner (Bob?) only has tastings when he can get the rep to come do the tasting (thereby making the rep buy the beer).

The new owner does not know craft beer at all. He will try and sell you a new over priced beer that they just got in. When you ask him the price or how it is, he states "it is good. Uh I don't know the price" He then pretends he knows nothing about the setting of the prices even though HE'S the owner.

The real craft beer selection appears to be diminishing and the 'fake' craft beer (think blue moon, third shift, etc) appears to be growing.

Prices have risen since Bob took over by $0.50 to $1.50/6 pack and the keg prices have all gone up. The inside still looks dirty and disorganized.

Finally, the Cheers like atmosphere and incredible beer knowledge that Mar and Stephen brought to the place IS GONE.

This place is good if you need a quick place to stop in but Plano has plenty other solid selections,

A- small and dingy little place, but I don't care what it looks like as long as there is good beer

Q- There were several good beers, but not any overwhelming offerings

S- They just kind of stood behind the counter

S- Above average, but not as good as I had heard. Lots of Belgians

V- Seemed pretty in line with other nearby stores in the Plano area

Overall- Stop by if you are close, but nothing to go out of your way for

Visited a couple weeks back. As with other reviewers I was quick to note the run-down look. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge as well.

I found the selection to be about average, and a little below what I can get up the street. As with almost any other store around town, there were a few beers that nobody else had, and a few that they didn't appear to carry. They seemed to have most of the big names....but not a tremendous selection of the small and obscure domestic craft offerings.

What was odd to me was that they seemed to have a better selection of singles than six packs. There were numerous beers they had one or two of, but no six packs.

Service was to the point, but not overly friendly. Prices seem to be in line with other stores.

Overall, worth a look but not a place I would go out of my way to visit. Better choices north a few streets.

Took an hour out of work to go up and check this place out. It wasn't quite the "emporium" I had imagined, looking a little beaten down, dim and spartan. The wine definitely got the better end of the merchandising budget at K&B.

However, no one really cares much about what the place looks like. The beer selection was solid, divided roughly into four sections. American craft and Belgian import got the full treatment, with lots of shelf space and a wide variety. I was mildly underwhelmed by the domestic selections, hoping to see a few more names there - a lot of shelf space to Stone among other usual suspects (DFH, Bear). The other two sections were smaller and primarily comprised of English and German imports - again, mostly the usual suspects (Schneider Weisse, Weihenstephaner, Sam Smith, Fuller's).

Staff wasn't terribly attentive even though I was the only customer in the store at the time, but I don't like being "served" so it didn't matter a ton to me. The guy at the till looked like Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade, if that's of value to you.

Lots of specials available. They had a deal on Sam Smith 4-packs that was advertised in their weekly e-mailer, but supplies were exhausted by the time I got there. There's also a clearance rack, which I intend to re-visit frequently. Otherwise, I didn't see any screaming bargains.

Overall, a worthwhile part of you beer vendor rotation, but by no means a "one-stop shop". I plan on checking out the other location soon enough.

said to be one of the best beer spots in the the north dallas area. has quite a selection outside of any texas regulars. a good selection of beligians that seems a bit pricier in comparison to some places but overall... all the st bernardus, (they're popular here) de proef, hop it, dupont, gouden, afflegem all other regions were well priced. a good selection of german and english beers. there was even a sale rack for stuff that wasn't selling well or was nearly expired. brassies de roc for 6 bucks being one. not as good on the texas brews as i would have hoped. had all the shiner's, and some real ale and saint arnolds but not on point exclusive. they had this years real ale Sisyphus. most available boulevards, stone, great divide, kona, big sky, and unibroue. a good selection for one to get there beer fix. between here and central market you can get most of the beer distributed to dallas.

Another awesome place in Plano...terrific selection and quality of brews... This place was loaded with terrific selections ranging from locals to Belgians to Germans... The prices were very reasonable as well... I picked up a bomber of Hop Stoopid for under $4 along with some local singles...

The service was very friendly and accomodating and was quick to suggest some local brews...

One of the better beer stores that I've been in...most of the brews seemed to be rather fresh and there were loads of them.... It was worth the drive up from Dallas for this selection...

I wandered over to Kegs and Barrels for the first time today and I was very, very happy with what I found.

I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and was offered advice on the beers I wasn't familiar with. The selection is excellent, especially if you're looking for something off the beaten path. All the familiar suspects may be found here along with several other beers I had not seen at other places. There is a great selection of Belgian and Belgian-style beers here.

One of the things I actually like about K&B is that the majority of their beer is on shelves instead of the cooler. I liked being able to browse the beers without having to continually opening a cooler door.

This is a very fine beer store that I plan to visit often.

Went to this location last night to find the newest brews to land in Dallas, and they had them all. They even had a few I had not seen yet in other stores. I live in Far North Dallas, almost Carrollton and nothing closer to me has the selection that this store has. And their prices were very reasonable. Nothing out rageous, and all prices were clearly marked. The guy that worked there was extermely helpful. We had to search the store for one of the new beers because it literally was put on the shevles the day before when he wasn't working, but that's cool.

I visited Kegs and Barrels for the first time this evening, and was I ever surprised! I'd have to say that they have the best selection of microbrews that I've found in the D/FW area. Under one roof, I found SN Southern Hemisphere Harvest, Victory Wild Ale, Lagunitas Hop Stoopid, and Stone Old Guardian, which are all hard-to-find beers in this area. They also carry all five of the Boulevard Smokestack series beers that we get in this area. Also, the clerk was friendly and seemed to know something about the beer, another commodity that's hard to find around here.

Kegs & Barrels is Plano's newest premium beer & wine retail store. I actually found this place quite by accident while cruising down 15th St. from US75. It's located in a small strip mall next to a donut shop & discount golf store. I was greeting almost immediately upon entering which is always a +positive. The premises are relatively small, but that doesn't stop these guys from being fine purveyors of beer. They have some 400+ beers in stock with lots of micro's to choose from. I scored some Avery Maharaja, Lagunita's Maximus, & Left Hand Imperial Stout bombers along with sixers of Rahr's Bucking Bock, Saint Arnold's Elissa, & Victory's Hop Wallop on my recent trip. Kegs & Barrels offers "mix & match" six-packs, plus over 250+ kegs to stay true to their name. Stop by to stock up the fridge. Check out the website for keg prices & monthly Killer Buys.

Been going to the place for the last few months. They have an awesome selection of both cold and stored brews. Their wine selection is mostly dominate at this location. They usually get new brews in before or at around the same time I see them end up at the bars and lately before some of the other beer shops. The shop is almost boutique in size.

I don't know if this is pretty typical of beer stores as this is the only place I've done it, but they can get kegs of just about anything you can think of. Even some Belgians that I've never seen on draught before. They also seem slightly cheaper than Mr. G's, and the selection is about the same, but as far buying cases go I still prefer S&K (I love that bulk discount.)
