Poured from a 12 oz. can. Despite zero agitation, this beer came oozing out, resulting in a hazy golden color with several inches of head. Smell is of grapefruit, oranges. Taste is grapefruit, light tartness, spices, a bit of orange peels. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

A burnt orange slightly hazy white headed beer in my glass - count me in. Add a shovelful of grapefruit on the nose combined with a subtle caramalt aroma, I’m chomping at the bit.

And the taste supports my eagerness - the grapefruit is up front, and at the tail end of the taste, too, but there’s that caramalt note that really elevates this. An outstanding flavored APA, IMHO.

$ 10 (Including tax)/six-pack of 12 ozers ($ 0.139/oz) at Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA.
Marked “Canned Nov 2017” across bottom of can, stored at 42 degrees and served at 42 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 4.
Body – Light yellow, clear, effervescent.
Head - Large (Maximum 5.4 cm, aggressive center pour), off-white, medium density, good retention, diminishing to an irregular four to eight mm ring fed by effervescence and a heaped partial layer. Head retraction leaves columns of lacing.
Lacing – Fair. As the level drops, the lacing forms buttes and mesas, unusual formations for lacing. The bubbles range from predominantly tiny to a few medium.
First pour – Light yellow, clear. Second pour is a bit hazy.
Aroma – 4 - Grapefruit. Fades.
Flavor – 4 - Begins with grapefruit, very slightly bitter. Malt backbone sneaks in toward the end. No spices. No alcohol, no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 - Medium, watery, lively carbonation.
Impression and summation – 4 – What can I say – I like grapefruit! This is a very refreshing drink, more in line with a grapefruit soda like Squirt (but less sugary) than what you would expect an APA to be. I was pleasantly surprised. This also starts out grapefruitily aromatic although the perfume does fade. It is also a very attractive brew. The palate is both unremarkable and unoffensive. The price point is excellent.

On tap at The Daily Refresher in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a completely clear straw yellow, with a small head and lots of lacing.

This smells like grapefruit juice and not much else.

This also tastes like grapefruit, and not much else. This is weakly hoppy grapefruit soda. It has no imagination or finesse at all. It tastes flat, bored, and tired.

This also feels flat, as it's not carbonated super strongly. It's crisp and drinkable enough, but it's not that enjoyable to actually drink.

This is barely beer. It's not worth trying.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip. Past it's best-bye... thanks a lot Weis

L: Clear light golden pour. Massive foamy white head leaves great lacing.

S: Citrus... grapefruit and orange rind. A bit of spice.

T/F: Light grains form the backbone, with a citrus forward hop profile. The standout flavor is grapefruit, with light tangerine, lemongrass, and pepper in the background. Very mild tartness. Medium to light in body... well carbonated. Finish is more citrus... lemon and grapefruit.

O: An easy drinking and crushable grapefruit forward (the name kinda gave that way) APA. Nothing earth shattering, but a great beer to sit and have a few of.

-Grapefruit pale ale canned 12.06.16 sampled 07.07.17.

A: Pale lemon-orange with a generally good clarity and a soft methodic rise of steady bubbles of medium density. A billowing, bone white head has a soapy consistency and very good long-tivity. Splashes of soapy dabs scatter the vessel.

S: Grapefruit juice aroma, almost perfumy, with background notes of freshly sliced oranges. Sweet wildflower scent.

T: Tart grapefruit pulp flavor, flowery hops with some tart, spicy oranges. Dry finish, spicy toast, spicy hops and some lemony flair. Wet and tart mixture of hops.

M: Gentle carbonation, some frothy texture, medium body, a bit dry, with a warming citrus spiciness.

O: Overall grapefruit comes through nicely enough, flowery grapefruit hops, tart, nice drinkability, light and easy downing with a strong hopping. very good.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a semi-hazy bronzed yellow color. A one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving a messy lacing roaming all over the glass. The smell had a sharp bitter and sweet grapefruit pith bringing in a slight zestiness in the rind part. A light lemon also displays a nice underneath balance, semi-sweet yet carrying a decent bitterness to it. The taste carries the bitter and the sweet over and under and intertwining absolutely fantasticly. There’s no aftertaste nor finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation seems decent for the style and for me. Bitterness displays an appropriate level as an APA. Overall, awesome APA with grapefruit added!
