Kerplunk! Imperial Chocolate Stout is named for the delicious sound made as large amounts of Wilbur chocolate and west coast hops are added directly into the simmering brew kettle. This hefty black Imperial-style stout boasts a rich caramel sweetness lavished by a robust, deep-roasted heartiness you can sink your two front teeth into. The bold flavors found in Kerplunk! are produced using a generous blend of roasted barley, crystal malts and locally produced chocolate. The resulting brew exhibits a deliciously complex and unique profile of subtle mocha coffee and intense chocolate, balanced nicely by the underlying roasted hop bitterness.

I really enjoyed this beer & spring house is one of my favorite breweries. Kerplunk has an extremely chocolatey smell and an equally chocolate taste. It wasn't as heavy or creamy as other stouts but it's not necessarily a bad thing. If you like flavored stouts then definitely give this one a try.

Served from the 22 ounce bottle into a tulip snifter at 38F. No bottle date.
Dark, black stout. Whitish velvety head.
Smells like raw Hershey's chocolate and roasty malts. Very clean and balanced.
If you've ever had Spring House's Big Gruesome Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout, this is the base beer, minus the dried peanut butter. I prefer Kerplunk to Big Gruesome. They really have this recipe dialed in and this is an excellent stout for the price point. Probably the best from PA, and certainly one of my favorite brands when searching out a stout. The flavor profile here is like a semi sweet dark chocolate bar. Really well balanced.
Extremely drinkable and really smooth mouthfeel. Hides the 8% ABV really well. Head retention is really nice and this stout also changes flavor with temperature. The warmer it gets, the more the flavor profile expands.
Definitely my favorite Spring House product thus far.
