Draft offering at Spring House appears black in color with a khaki head that fades leaving stringy lace.
A very roasted nose that is charred grain with a hint of earthy to herbal hops.
The taste is bitter roast, earthy, very slight nuttiness, leather and lasting charred grain roast and slight herbal hops.
This is medium to lighter in body with modest carbonation. This is one of those Spring House brews that they have made off and on for years and I always seem to miss it's availability. Glad to have had a chance to try it but its not something id want again.

Poured from a growler shared by Dan I believe, thanks! Dark brown with a medium head. Pretty standard aroma with roast and the associated acidity. Silky feel because of the serving type I believe, with dominant charred character. Oddly floral at times and somewhat nutty. It was ok.

On tap at Mari's 6 pack
Review from notes, drank on Saturday March 2nd 2013
This beer had a black color body with a large tan head, that hung around for a while. The aroma had a roasty, malty smell to it, with a hint of chocolate. The taste had a candied pecan flavor which complamts the hint of chocolate that came through as it warmed up a bit. The mouth feel was smooth and not thick at all. There was no after taste and i really enjoyed this beer.

Dark brown, nearly black pour with a thin layering of tanned head. Retains for a bit, fading into some wispy retention.
Very nutty and robust in the nose with candied pecans. Chocolate and caramel, roasted malts and soft alcohol presence.
Roasted/candied pecans with nuttiness and sweet caramel. Hints of chocolate and cocoa intertwined with the rich malt profile, delivering a solid amount of sweetness alongside a flash of alcohol warmth.
Fuller body, well carbonated, chewy and sticky on the tongue. The pecan nuttiness was tasty, but I was still hoping for a little more on this one.
